Just a series of cheap shots with no motivation other than to provoke. He always takes an opportunity to lay the boot in. There are clubs in a more precarious financial position than we are but they never rate a mention.

Patrick's style has always been to attack and on slow days to rely on his whipping boy. It used to be St Kilda and Grant Thomas -- used to endlessly quote the win-loss ratio. Attack Thomas' appointment and methods and referring to him as Cornflakes. Now he lauds St Kilda.

He used to say that Eddie was a poor loser because of the salary cap concessions given to Brisbane, now he is a cheerleader for changing the system.

In the years that I have been reading and hearing him, I've never seen him say anything constructive or positive.

He has to be the most loathed football writer in the industry.

having said that, with which I entirely agree, this may not be far off the mark,

Quote:
Carlton is a dilapidated club both in bricks and brawn. Smorgon's task is not to merely refurbish but to build again. That is the Elliott legacy. Collins did his best, Smorgon must do better

Perhaps a call to the RSPC might help :!: :!: :!:

The horse is long dead (i.e Elliot) and yet Smith continues to beat it un-mercilessly with a baseball bat.

Does he think he needs to keep on repeating himself JUST IN CASE there is a Monk in far off Tibet who hasn't yet heard the story.

When it is all said and done I actually blame the paper's Editor. How he can allow Smith rehash the same dated drivel time and again about 'Elliot and poor CFC management' in the majority of his articles, is truly amazing.

I suspect he has only really written 2 or 3 original articles on Carlton in his lifetime. The other 5000 contain 90% 'cut and paste' versions of those 3 plus the added 'sneer' here and a lame 'pun' there.

He is one Lazy, Lazy, Lazy writer. (shake’s head in amazement)

Regards Cazzesman

Not the worst thing he has written/plagiarised. Spot on re our finances. Not too sure what $ cost per victory proves (bugger all actually). Compare and contrast Caro's piece in The Age - she is a real journalist.

I wouldn't - your ass might revolt.

Journalists will keep going back to John Elliott until the club can give them something better to wrtie about!! You dont hear too many bad stories coming out about the Bulldogs at the moment because they are seen as fresh, young, winning and turning things around. There are plenty of good nerws stories to write about. If the journo's cant get a story from the club they'll turn to Jack who seems always willing to throw in his 5 bob's worth (which he'll have to borrow probably).

We need to make Elliott irrelevant to the media because we are flying both on and off the field.

There is nothing like gun kids to give a wounded football club hope and something to look forward to.

Look at Hawthorn supporters with their kids.
Or Collingwood with Thomas.,

Look at us with ours... were not taiking about Kouta or Lappin.. its the kids.

The quicker clubs learn that , the better....

and if yopu have nothing to show off.. no ideas.. no money no list.. the media will go to town..

Look at North this week!!!

Yep. Whether it is lazy or not, you know you'll get a headline out of Elliott. The trouble is more to do with why people still see his opinion as having any merit IMO, more than the club lifintg it's game, which would help of course. I suspect it will be time that renders Elliott's opinion worthless, so I'm afraid we'll just have to grin and bear it for a bit longer yet.

Who knows, maybe the kids will get us on the right track and with some attractive footy being played we might be well placed to enjpy a few years as the media's reviving ugly duckling.

He thinks that Fevola should have got more weeks as well

http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/st ... 70,00.html

This week Brendan Fevola is cited for rough play for his attack on Brett Kirk and will miss just one match. Some might think it lunacy to suggest Pickett's attack on the player was six times more dangerous than the actions of Fevola.

He dont like us much does he

He will regain some credibility when he tells everyone that he thinks Lloyds diving is a disgrace and that its bringing the game into disrepute.
Also that Ron Evans is a cheat.
Sheedy is starting to have that Bert Newton.. old lady look about himself...

And that beyond that he works for the Australian because noone reads the Australian...

Elliott is still relevant while the club is still in trouble. Once we head consistently in the right direction, the bad news stories will stop and Elliott will then no longer be relevant and he will no longer be looked at for a cheap story.

Unfortunately, this may tak a while :(
