Post subject:  DIGGINS MUST STAND DOWN IMMEDIATELY

I've created this as a new topic on the off-chance that at least one director of the Carlton Football Club is clued-up enough to scan supporter sites to gauge the reaction to the revelations regarding Lorraine 'My Dad Played for Carlton' Diggins.

I figured that this mythical director wouldn't bother to open topics, but just scan their titles.

But if said director DID bother to open this message, then here's the deal:

This club, or any organisation for that matter, can't afford naive self-serving idiots to be on the board. People who are only there to feel a part of the action and to stroke their own considerable ego, USED to fill up football club boards in the bad old days before professionalism caught up with AFL clubs.

I'm not just basing this on a single leaked report. I defy Diggins or any of her supporters (if she has any) to tell us exactly what she's brought to the club in the position of Director. Apart from being related to an ex-player and being female.

Diggins - get the hell out your director's position. You've relinquished all rights to that privileged position.

Absolutely galling to think that she's sitting there, and a person like Marcus Clarke isn't.

I reckon she might just stand down

I said it in another thread:

I hope she got the short answer when she cracked the sads about the Number 5 jumper.

We need a board who aren't going to be sidetracked with things like this which are understandably very personal, but in the grand scheme, trivial.

If there is enough genuine feeling and resolve to rid the board of this lightweight, it can be done as was done with Elliot and his team. Not sure of the exact facts of how its done (maybe some of you who are more across the consitution could contribute), but a petiton/ resolution calling for a special AGM where the resolution to remove Diggins and call for a vote for her position is put would do it. Needs to be signed by 100 members (I think).

Speedy,

Surely just the threat of that would make her realise that its in her best interests to step down

Speedy,

Whilst this is feasible, the expense of holding an Extraordinary General Meeting is very prohibitive.

Given our parlous financial state serious consideration would need to be given to this prior to anyone going off half cocked.

In addition, the turmoil and the media frenzy that this would create would not be in the overall best interests of the club.

Bide your time and vote when the opportunity arises.

Regards

I, too, have always questioned her contribution to the board. There's nothing to suggest she adds any value whatsoever, rather more the other way - GET RID OF HER, NOW.

Fancy a board member (repeat, a board member) arking up about what number a player was allocated without her consultation, because her father wore that number?

I would rather someone like Nicole Livingstone (a mad and passionate supporter with a media profile) to serve on the board than Diggins.

Happy to support any campaign to turf her or any other board members out who are only in it for their own profiles and sentiments.

It's time to go......Ms Diggins

You speak far too much sense and reason to be posting here. Maybe some other forms of pressure may be as effective without he turmoil and cost.

Perhaps we could raise the petition, present it to her and then allow her to make her decision without having to call a special AGM and incur the costs that go with it.

This high-class businesswoman was elected to assist with the marketing of the club! Obviously an "outstanding talent". Hasn't our marketing department blossomed with her "valued input"

My advice to Lorraine - get back to High Street Armadale and conduct your art classes! You serve no purpose whatsoever on this board (its not a high society party my dear!)

Livingstone would get a tick from me. Young, good media image and performer, female, loyal and pssionate, and most importantsly - seems to have a brain.

Cheers Speedy

Perhaps pursuing other forms of pressure is the right way to proceed.

However, do we know for a FACT that what Caro has printed is what occured.

We regularly doubt journalists spin on other stories, is it possible that Caro has been fed this info re Diggins and simply restated it without it being true?

I think you will find it is 100% accurate - have had it confirmed via another source. Also that it is pretty typical of her contribution.

If its not one thing its another, Will this ever stop.

For the first time in a long time i felt that this club is going forward and the bleakest moments have passed. A new president, a brighter future and a commited team heck that has all gone out the window. As each day passes that feeling and beliefe has slowy eradicated.

It felt good while it last. Its a pitty

Please not Nicole.
She is so annoying and dumb.
Anyway she is raising her kids as Lions fans so I don't know how passionate she is.

I'm all for diverse representation on the board and women on the board is a good thing - but at the end of the day it has to be the best people whether they are men or women it doesnt matter - having said that it would seem someone like Nicole Livingstone would represent a far better option.

Besides whilst Brighton Diggins should be revered as a Carlton Premiership Captain and Coach - he did actually come from South Melbourne and was originally recruited to South Melbourne during the time of their Legendary Foreign Legion in the early 30s resulting in their last premiership in 1933. The concept of buying a Premiership is not or never has been a new one.

Good to have you aboard OR

And i agree... She will get hers when its time.

Some of the others should too.

This has been about grandstanding and over the last week i have seen quite a few of them doing it,

Fancy blaming the coach on day one!!!
A new footballer will come on board.. whats the bet it will be a crowd pleaser...a name that people will love.

It wont necessarily mean the best man for the job but they will get themselves another footy head to go with Sticks for a profile.

He is a man without any runs on the board and he is deflecting...

Smorgon has outlined a few things.. none of which he is the initiator of.. Fancy saying "the move"..Please!!! :-D ...... he knows Noone can argue that..

The jumper???

WOW!!!!.. really ground breaking design.

So he has to use a patsy and in this case its Denis...he knows Denis is on a hiding to nothing and by blaming him he comes out smelling roases.

Theyre all abit like that!!!
Sticks is Italy in WW2.. he will allign himself with whoever is winning.

Valmorbida has presidential aspirations and won his seat on the board by a whopping 7 votes.

Fresh blood ladies and gentleman!!!...

Just bide your time and support any WORTHY candidate that might put their hand up at years end.

Diggins will is dead in the water i reckon...

Lets see if we can find somebody that can make an impact.

PS board member is hopefully sheldon
