You should be ashamed of yourselves!!!! He has played a couple of bad games - So what!!!! he certainly isnt alone in that dept. He has given us over 13 years of great loyal serice and has won us plenty of games off his own boot! He didnt look 100% tonight but still kicked 2 goals - if he does that every week im happy. A loyal servant, a superstar plkay and a fantastic guy! For those of you who write the dribble criticising his effort or saying he should be dropped should stop posting b/c you are speaking crap |

Kouta was a champion He is now a footballer soon he will be retired. Its called change. Most of the things wriiten about Kouta are because things have changed. And not for the better. Not his fault. He is not a criminal or anything but His player always hurts us going the other way so Kouta needs to be damaging to account for that - now at the moment he is not damaging. Two goals - one a pack free by two or three carlton players - Captain gets dibs. Not a great game for a captain i thought. Like the other games this year. I loved Kouta. I loved Ragsy Goold more and one day he retired. and Doully and after Dunstall killed Doully I knew he had better hang up his boots or cope flak. Doully knew to hang up his boots. I hoipe Kouta knows the same at the end ogf this year (unless he improves and begins to take a lot of overhead marks and can play as a semi-permanent forward). |

With all due respect headcutter, I think Kouta's performance tonight is worth criticising. He was not good tonight. While I agree that he has been a loyal servant etc, his performances in the team 5 years ago count for absolutely nothing in tonights game. He allowed Zac Dawson to run rings around him!! Unfortunately Kouta is not the player he used to be & I don't think he should be above criticising when people are really quick to bag Walker, Carrotts, Simmo etc for their efforts. There was a perfect example in the 3rd quarter where Setanta was in the goal square with Jacobs (?). Dawson dropped back to create the loose man in defense & where was his man Kouta? I'll get back to you in about 45 minutes. Hopefully the replay I'm watching will tell me because I couldn't for the life of me find him at the time. |

dannyboy thats a load of crap!!!! Kouta is not what he used to be gien but neither is any player over the age of 30. He was fantastic last year playing a totally different style of footy over the last 3 years. He can no longer do the spectacular game breaking things but rather he still gbets the hard ball and brings others around him into the game. No doubt he is still in our best dozen players and deserves to be first picked every week. He is a leader and with a team of boys he, Whitnall, Lappin and Stevens ive them direction |

Kouta should only be a bit player now like Hird. Problem is we still rely on him. He had a better year last year than Voss, Hird and Buckley but we shouldn't have ran him into the ground like that. He should be off the bench like Riccardi. |

Fair enough, but there was very little of that seen from him in the last few weeks. Sad as it may be careers inevitably wind down, and Kouta's looks to be heading down that path either this season or the next. |

I disagree with your assessment of Kouta's efforts last year. yes he got the ball and when he didnlt his man did and usually his man hurt us. Kouta cannot chase, understandable, but as i said to Maxyblue Kouta still wants to play as the athlete - he isn't. |

bluegirldanielle, you are missing the point!!!!!!!!! I agree he had a bad night BUT who hasnt!! hell I bet you have had the odd shocker in your time yet. Kouta gives 100% and I have no doubt he will bounce back over the next few weeks. Blind freddy could see he was not 100% tonight and Clarko to his credit exploited it. So what he is down on form and confidence there is no point crucifying him or talking about dropping him he knows what is expected and where he can improve - he will do it |

Voss or Hird don't chase either but we don't really take notice or care because it's not our team. |

dannyboy your severe lack of insight is glaringly obvious. Kouta knows he cannot play the "athlete" role anymore hence he chnaged his game to suit, he rarely flies for the big mark, hbe handballs more, doesnt go on long runs - how can you say he still thinks he is the same super- K of the mid 90s???? He never shirks the issue and draws opponents whilst bruinging players into the game and strightening us up. He never drops his head and is a role model to all the players both on and off the track |

Hird chases, Voss chases (not to well now and boy wasn't that highlighted). Now it is not Kouta's fault. However, the question was about the best possible side - is Kouta in your best 22? He is in mine - just and it diminshes weekly at the moment (especially if AB keeps going on) - as it should given his age, his lack of mobility and his performances so far this year. All reasonable I would have thought. No one thought too much of giving Johnno the chop but Kouta, oh Kouta... Who gives a rats. He is a player playing for carlton and I am glad he has and does but he will not play for us forever so one of the things we do as supporters is determine when we think his end will come. it happens to every player who has played. We are right/wrong and absolutely unimportant in the scheme of things so don't get your royal koutaknickers in a knot. We are discussing as all supporters do the merits of a player who happens to be our captain, our highest paid player and once upon a time, one of the most damaging players i have seen. But like that skull and hamlet, soon it will be a case of 'alas poor Kouta he played so well...' |

For me personally, I love Kouta. Always have & always will. I have & will admire everything he has done throughout his career. But if we are talking about tonights game & tonights game only - he was terrible. And he should not escape that criticism just because of his past. If he's not fit to play why play him?? You are correct though, he wasn't on his own at all. But as leader of a young team, with 252 games of experience & a massive pay cheque to go with it, he needs to show some leadership which, IMO, he did not show tonight. I am still yet to understand why he should not be criticised yet it's ok to criticise Simpson, De Luca, Whitnall, T-Bird, Livo or Wiggins to name a few? |

An assessment I have would be that Kouta's 100% clearly isn't what it was years ago. So when there is negativity towards him, peoples observations need to be related back too their expectations of Kouts'a role. Would I love Kouta too break open a game, kick 3 goals and have 30 touches - you bet. Do I expect Kouta to do that - nope What do I expect from Kouta (my captain) Not only too be seviceable, but too see obvious talk, presence, encouragement etc, whatever buzz word you want, fly the flag. If he was unwell, don't be courageous, let him miss the game, and give someone else a go, someone who needs too prove themselves, because after this season what are the chances of Kouta going on, 50 - 50, I am not sure, but in two years time I doubt he will be there, so someone else who could possibly be there may be better for the run. I know we a short of real leaders, but we should not be putting Kouta out too the slaughter if he is not 100%. Kouta has been a real good servant of the club, but he still open for CONSTRUCTIVE criticism as well. |

Easy to criticise Wiggo and Deluca (worst player to ever play over 30 games for carlton) Sporn and Livo b/c they consistently under perform. I prefer not to bag players just for the sake of it - they dont set themselves to play badly they simply just arent up to it, constructive criticism is better (although i admitt with the above mentioned players it is hard. Kouta has played 50 Amazing Games, 75 v.good games, 100 good-ok games and a handful of poor games - fantastic averages! Dont bag a bloke just cos he has had a couple of bad ones. |
