.... can stick tackles. That would have come in handy.

Agreed. Our tackling and manning up was appalling last night. Absolutely appalling.

The manning up was at its worst after we kicked a behind (which we did quite a lot of  )

Seriously, how many times did Rich run the ball easily to their fwds after our behinds??

Tackling looked better in the Melb match but last night we were very ordinary. I hope this is seriously addressed at training this week! It would also be good if training was totally dedicated to contested work. All the straight running drills in the world are not going to get this football side better at disposing the ball under pressure.

I can't understand why they dropped McGrath and then decided to play Simmo in the back pocket. He's never played there before and he gets pushed off the ball because of his size - and Pagan left him there all night!

it amazed me last night to see as many as 4 carlton players standing in the goal square while a player (think it was whitnall) lined up for goal from within distance.

the shot was missed, as it was many times last night, and we ended up having no hope of defending the kick-in.

I think Simpson did ok but he should of been on the wing or flank.
What we missed was Mcgrath's kicking and his ability to hit a target

... and just to take it one step further slow_mo; what the hell was bannister brought in for? just to sit on the pine for most of the night?

we had lappin line up on cleve hughes, who played deep, and simmo down back too. why couldn't bannister have taken hughes, lappo on the back flank and simmo in the midfield?

I'm not having a go at Simmo, he battled hard considering the circumstances. I just don't understand why Pagan dropped a proven back pocket player in McGrath only to use Simmo, who does his best work on the wing or forward of the centre.

We missed McGrath's rebounding skills and also missed Simmo's delivery into forward 50.

Poor selection and coaching.

Happens every week too. So predictable

And our kickouts were woeful

That's exactly right maxy. The only player to give us any run from defensive 50 was Walker, as Simmo and Lappin had little impact on the game. If Bannister was picked to play, then why have him on the bench for most of the game?

I'm sick to death of Pagan not having any confidence in his players, I mean, what kind of message does it send to them?

OK
I too also bring it down to poor coaching.

Another question to add to the long list of Pagan mistakes.
