Fairly big spray for the HUN tonight on media watch. Plenty of coverage about Carlton, TD, Collo and COI. Interesting stuff. |

Carlton featured heavily, in a saga we all know about and have heard before. The report was scathing of The Age also. News reports have long lost thier objectivity. I can't belive Rucci has put a $3milloin price on his head to be kicked off The Adelaide Advertiser. But The Age/Herald Sun bitch fight is just so ridiculous, and it's a pity Carlton had to be right in the middle of the whole thing. Unfortunately a 15 minute/once a week show on a little watched channel will do little to help make news reporting more objective and rid it of agenda based presentation. |

Was good fun. It needs to be said that Media Watch has some very strong agendas (which is a pity - as it weakens the credibility of the programme). One of their agendas is a very strong anti-News Ltd. stance. Some was well known stuff and some was conspiracy theories e.g. MW was half-way implying that Collo was made to resign by the Herald Sun. Anyway, a good issue to bring to light as it seems clear that both The Age and the HS are using their editorial power towards the footy clubs in a commercial sense. Thwe clubs are weak as they depend on good copy (especilly around the time or the year when member and sponsors are signed) |

I caught the tail end of the story, but why did StKilda and Essendon* not encounter the problems we did? Or did they just tell the HUN to piss off. |

Media Watch, whether you believe it has a fixed agenda beyond trying to make the media accountable for bias and presenting PR as "fact" and "news", is actually far more influential in the industry than you'd think. I'm glad I've taped tonight's ep. |

I'd say Media Watch's agenda and that of Bolt are mutually exclusive. The Australian is the best newspaper circulating at the moment- but their sports coverage is pretty crappy. |
