Not sure how long that pick will stay on the main page but, while it's there, check out that ball drop ![]() http://www.news.com.au/ I have no idea how he does that with one arm but I wonder if he could teach some of our lot how to drop it that straight. |

i remember reading about him last year - would have loved the club to have rookie listed him - could be great to have around on the training track etc Quote: nine club best-and-fairest awards and three league best-and-fairest medals
fair effort for a a 19yo playing with one arm against 'able bodied' opponents all through his career |

i hope he stays with footy and doesnt start a life of crime ![]() but good on the kid - if he is good enough, dont see what having one hand less has to do with anything. |

prez - think the issue with 1 arm was that there was a concern that he wouldnt be able to do weight training etc - and hence remain a 'skinny' kid |

from all reports he goes alright. look i dont think he would be able to play AFL, but if he can get a game in the VFL he must be doing something right. |

Fantastic story, any AFL player that reckon's they're doing it tough should have a quiet think about what this bloke has achieved. I remember seeing a lengthy story about him on Sportsworld last year. Really inspirational and proves that footy is 90% above the shoulders (unless you're a fat bastard). |

There was some film of him on ABC TV last night, from training. Looks like the kid can play! |

He can but he would have difficulty at the top level because (ardy har har I don't find it funny either) he would be one-sided and can't handball. No point in making the kid feel like a circus freak either. |

Know the kid and his family. He is the grandson of ex middleweight champ Sonny Carpenter. His oldman and uncle were champion players on the peninsular and coaches as well. The Carpenter name is revered down this part of the world.A real credit to himself and his family. |

There was loads of talk about him last year on CSC....pretty inspirational but I don't think he is up to AFL. |

Why couldn't he handball, jimmae? Surely holding the ball with his hand and "punching" it with the other would be considered a legal disposal. You'd be a total bastard if that wasn't taken into account when judging Holding-the-ball decisions. I'd like to see him give it a shake. He's obviously talented, and has more drive than 90% of players at AFL level, IMO. |

I don't suppose anyone's got a direct link to the story? Can't find it on the news.com website. Which is total shite, by the way. |

My mistake, I thought he had no arm on one side... deformity at the elbow allows him to handball but it also makes him predictable by both hand and foot, something you don't see at AFL ranks. Imagine if the kid had two hands, he would have been drafted last year if he was eligible without a moment's pause. |

Almost every team has at least one "one-sided" player who is 95% predictable. |
