Over the last 4 years I can honestly say that we have not improved at all! I watched as we got the great coach (Pagan), new players (Walker, Livo, Houlie etc) and a new president (Collo now Smorgon). The players effort today was nothing short of pathetic and it really irks me to say this. We have no skill, no game plan and no accountability. Add to that we look nothing short of Oz Kick footballers who all kuck and chase the ball. I really don't know where we can go from here????

No not now.... we might actually win a few consolation games if we did, and I'd rather the first pick.

Yes we must now go for the first pick (again), then sack Pagan, and get someone who actually gives a toss about what happens on the field.

where are the kpp defenders of the future gonna come from?

bower is a kid, and while it is a very early call and i would GLADLY stand corrected he seems to play a tad on the small size. his qualities seem more about backing himself and running ... nothing wrong with that but will he be able to play as a kpp?

hartlett unfortunately keeps getting 8 week injuries, so who knows? god i hope he comes on ...

livo is not up to it.

saddo is manton without the "i'm an exceptionally interesting individual with a unique outlook on life" attitude ... not to mention SOS and sexton

haven't seen edwards play, so can't comment ...

since the micky martin stop gap selection, we are STILL in the same position re kpp defenders!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ... sorry, forgot that we have lance who can go there for 2 or 3 qtrs a game.

what's the friggin plan re defence ... apart from trying to turn simpson into a back pocket player ... :garthp:

(don't even want to get started on the midfield "plan" for the future ... )

echoing my sentiments exactly maxy...

we basically have rested all our hopes on the shoulders of adam hartlett, who not only is injured a lot, but said himself in the social club before the freo game, that he wants to play forward when he comes into the team.

i can tell you im crossing my fingers so hard that they are breaking that craig flint gets up.

We've been involved in two whole drafts since the penalties and Pagan taking over. We've also been involved in one draft (that Pagan has had direct control over) where we had a PP and nothing else until the fourth round due to securing Scotland.

We have secured (in that time)

Hartlett, Bower, Edwards, Saddington, McGrath, Teague, Flint, Russell and Bannister in terms of players intended to play defense.

We already had Livo, Thornton, Whitnall (in terms of who is with us now) to work with. Livo has been crueled by injuries and now seemingly cannot fulfil this task. Whitnall should really be up forward and Thornton should be the third tall, maybe CHB.

In terms of KPP, I assume we're looking at Hartlett, Bower and maybe Flint and Edwards (as pinch-hitters) in these roles.

We haven't done much wrong (yet) with what's on hand and we're shaping to gather another top pick which we will more than likely use on a tall given the way the top 10 in the draft is shaping up. Failing that we are likely to secure a ruckman.

Hardly something to be angry about at the moment. The list is about as good as it can be, unless you wanted to use all our picks and throw under developed bodies to the wolves.

Jimmae, I know I pay out on you a fair bit, but this is your best post ever.

Konstruct hits the nail on the head I think when he said :

'im looking forward towards the end of the year when Hartlett, Bower, Russel, Murph, Kennedy, Simpson and Walks all play together..'

These players are the start of a new dynamic..

But dont get toooo excited, it is very much a question of hastening slowly, very slowly.

Remember that because of our predicament, it is like we are trying to drill through 14 metres of rock that is 5 times harder that concrete.

And we havent got a raise borer like thay have in the Beaconsfield mine..

This is really only the start mind you, draft picks, more developing bullants players and some trades are still required.

All this is not for the faint hearted.

We also need to shift 'The Pagan Paradigm'.

Another 8 or 9 losses will probably be most of what we need to ensure that this takes place.

This is the last big crisis that we will have to face though - losing our gameday rudder whilst sitting in the middle of the ocean.

Although many would say that our rudder isnt exactly steering the ship in the correct direction...

Those that want to get their footy highs in the meantime meed to watch two things.

1. The bullants.

2. Individual performances in losing sides at Carlton.

The players that stand up during this time are the ones that will lead our new team.
