I say it's time
To pitch for Mitch
When Capper kicked a winning goal at PP we sacked a loyal blue and rehired a former great.

Pagan isn't doing much and if games go according to plan the turn around is going to be long and slow!

Barry Mitchell is a future thinking coach.
He is exactly what we seem to be lacking.
Listen to him on the TV when the ABC show Bullants games.
Listen and talk to him at training.

Trust in HIM!!

Come on Smorgy
Give him a go
We would when we were a great club and we would sack the old style outdated coaches without a thought.

Time to go back to our ruthless best!

Seniors
IN - Mitchell
OUT - Pagan

Bullants
IN - Pagan
OUT - Mitchell

Would we have to pay out Pagan's contract if we made him Bullants coach?

Interesting question.

Personally, if my job description was changed so dramatically I'd be asking questions.

IR Challenge is currently before the full bench of the High Court. Might have to wait a while before we find out.

I never questioned your intelligence, just whether you were looking deeply enough into the team's troubles.

It's not a crime if you aren't.

This, on the other hand, is far fetched. You simply should not sack a coach until the end of the playing season.

Chill mate, it was a joke about that particular quote and had little to actually do with the topic of the thread.

Why? A couple of times in our history the coach has completely lost the players and a new coach has made an instant difference.

I'm not suggesting either way whether this is one of those times, but to make such a categorical statement is just bollocks.

You could keep Pagan as Head Coach.

Just make Mitch the Head head coach.

So you're saying Ponky, that Mitch needs a head job?

Yes, but just not from Pagan.

I think Smorgon needs to give him the head job.

Denis Pagan has become the master of no responsibility.

Why not sack him? What we might lose a few games under a new coach?

We might also develop a few kids and a game plan that fits the list.

I reckon it is completely fanciful to suggest he should not be seriously looked at if we don't start playing a better brand of footy. We haven't played the decent teams yet, wait to you see the towellings coming up then under the flood tactics.

Mitchell is getting closer to the senior job and giving himself every chance with the way he has the Bullants performing....if things continue and media pressure builds on Smorgan who I think is the type to cave into some media and member pressure I can see Mitchell taking over for a evaluation period and being offered the job proper next season.
An arrangement with Denis Pagan would need to be made and I think Smorgan will be challenged with some hard decsisions in his role as President over the next couple of months and its a good test for him to see how he handles things....

I have no problem losing games with kids under any coach, let alone a new one, but the fact is Carlton simply cannot afford to sack Pagan. We haven't got the cash.

If there's a "wooden spoon" clause in Denis' contract which states that if he coaches us to last then he's out, well, that's a different matter, but the way things stand, it just won't happen, people.

I agree we probably can't afford to sack him, but by the same token he is costing the club plenty by not doing it.

If they sack him in July I'll buy another membership just to celebrate.

If they don't sack him and set a new path, it will cost more come end of season when we're trying to lock in sponsors etc. Give us some oxygen.

I've got no problem keeping him, and playing differently.

I don't understand why we go into the first seconds playing negative. Defending a score of zero won't help us.

I say just play the kids, and play attacking footy. Sure, we'll cop some hidings, but the kids will learn and enjoy more, and develop.

If not that, then at least go man-on-man. Make EVERY player accountable for one player. If that can be done, hopefully the lazy habits of loose checking will disappear after a bit.

I'd be tearing my hair out.......if I had any.
