sorry for the stupid topic heading, im new here (would like to thank the staff for helping to fix my registration problems) so im not certain if this has been mentioned before so i apologise if it has. we obviously need a new coach. the game has passed pagan by, why o why cant we just play with some structure? it is clear the players dont want to play for pagan but there is a man sitting in the box they would. he joined the blues in 1986, was made captain in '87. he starred in multiple grand finals (7 goals in '93, a gallant effort) as well as captaining our two most recent succesful tilts at glory. he is blue through and through and, to be honest can belt out a tune. gotta get rid of pagan for the one and only sticks kernahan. dont tell me the players wouldnt listen if he had somthing to say (voice jokes aside), he is the perfect candidate. forget mitchell and elshaugh (sp?), libba isnt carlton enough. KERNAHAN IN '07 with ur help and support, it could happen. |

Hey sean. Good to see you've made it on. Now on Kernahan being coach..... I'd rather have a 9 iron taken to my privates than have Kernahan as coach. Sorry. |

lol, id hoped someone would say that one, didnt expect it so quick tho (checks watch), wow that was very quick. seriously tho, sticks is the man. if i was kennedy, russell, murphy, walker, simpson etc and he had somthing to say id pay very very close attention. unlike pagan this is a guy who has reached the top, has incredible leadership and, as ive stressed repeatedly: IS CARLTON, i dont give a sh*t about pagans connections to carlton, my left nut is more carlton than pagan. |

Why does the coach have to be an ex-Carlton person? Why are we such an incestuous group of supporters? |

well the idea is simple. in this case kernahan is a great of the club. hes been out of the game for a while now but he still has been in the system at the elite level. he has respect from the players, fans, opposition clubs for what he has achieved. he understands what it is to be carlton. i also believe that with him being a forward he wouldnt be opposed to us kicking more than 4 or 5 goals a half. atleast wed be attacking, and when we have been willing to throw caution to the wind we have played alright. if were gonna lose by 7 or 8 goals wouldnt u rather us atleast kick more than 10 ourselves? |

Why are we such an incestuous group of supporters? PRECISELY! It's this inbred mentality which will hurt us in the future. Pagan is a passionate Carlton man. He barracked for us as a kid, and played for us. We need the BEST for the job, whoever that may be. End of story. |

Exactly. If someone like Michael Voss was ready to coach and put his hand up for the Carlton job you'd be stupid to turn him away because he's not ex-Carlton. Supporters have the mistaken belief that everyone at the club needs to have the same passion as they do. FFS, Wayne Harmes played pretty bloody well in the Navy Blue, but he's admitted recently that he's a dyed in the wool Richmond man. |

Agree Pagan has lost it, but there isn't any evidence that Kerna can. The only person within the club I would consider is Mitchell. |

i doubt voss would jump right into coaching. but hes another case of u never know if u never try. kernahan might be the wrong option, he might be the right option. unless ur willing to back someone in u will never know what they are truly capable of (this is also applicable for all the young guys we have). it isnt soley about the new person (a new person being a matter of when not if) being carlton, but my view is kernahan would want the blues to succeed more than a voss, mitchell isnt a bad idea and hes worth considering if not only for his success with the ants but the fact hed be reasonably cheap. |
