Any coincidence that this article comes out in the week after the Blues beat Wilson's Tigers; sour grapes perhaps?

i have to admit - i hated the concept of him coming to our club.

but to listen to him on fox footy - he knows the game, i mean really knows the game, unlike some of the prats that like to talk up how much they think they know about the game a.k.a. Brereton.

Carey would be an awesome Assitant Coach

Yep, Carey is a great footy commentator on Fox. I had my doubts also when he first came but he sure knows the game...and he also calls it as it is

Interesting article.Cant comment much although Mitchell is doing a good job with the magoos. How could Carey seriously be a coach with his past history.I love to be in a player's mind when the duck says respect and help your teammates.Wayne stick to the box because you got to have some moral fibre to be respected.Decent blokes dont @#$%&! their best mates wife.

If Carey gets an assistant role we might has well let Joe Korp out of Barwon to coach the magoos on weekends.

Martin Pike was just on the Footy Show saying he wants a chance to be an assistance coach.

He played under Denis and Matthews and been at 4 clubs..

Would be a good get...

At least Pikey would bash a few players if they got out of line...

If they do turn over the coaching staff, and if they do look to get more development coaching, perhaps they could consider Hyde who's been coaching at the Calder Cannons in recent years. They've been very successful and had a bucket load of kids drafted. Perhaps he's alright at development.

Marcus Ashcroft anyone?

Knows what it's like to be in the bottom and on the top.

Would be a good acquisition given our current situation.

Ashcroft sounds fine to me. If not then 1 of the Scott boys if they retire.
Not interested in Martin Pike.
I want a player from a successful side.

How many premierships does a bloke need to win?

(Not that I think Pike's the answer)

I know Mitch has the Ants motoring well, but from the few times I've heard him address the players and be interviewed, I'm not that impressed. And our small injury list has helped the ants, together with loads of guys who are great VFL players and not up to it at AFL level. It seems to me that DP dominates his coaches and the assitants all seem pretty dull guys. Need someone with a bit of spark and flair, someone who can challenge entrenched ideas etc.

It'll be interesting, as DP won't like being told who to sack and who to hire. Remember Parko spitting it when Johnny Worsfold was appointed apparently without his knowledge. I actually don't mind Elshaugh, seems to have a bit more rapport with players than Micth or Libba. Interesting to hear Pikey compare DP with Lethal. He indicated DP tore into players immediately after games while Leigh was more measured and thoughtful. I notice Wallace doesn't address players after match until they are showered and dressed so he has time to make a calm appraisal rather than shooting from the hip. I prefer the measured approach myself.
