SYNBAD - "It's a long way down."

79 VINTAGE - "Just pretend you're flying."

SYNBAD - "I think might fly."

79 VINTAGE - "I've got the binoculars on the ground, what's all the commotion? And there are ambulances?"

SYNBAD - "I received a text message to meet here half an hour earlier, it was JohnM."

79 VINTAGE - "That's Carlton Recruiting Manager Wayne Hughes!"

SYNBAD - "G'day Hughsey - What are you doing here?"

HUGHES - "Just enjoying the view."

79 VINTAGE - "After our grand victory over Essendon* I thought you'd be enjoying a celebratory beer with Denis?

HUGHES - "Denis wanted to join me, Collo did too, but they're both been admitted to the hospital. See you later."

HUGHES JUMPS.

SYNBAD - "Hughesy didn't fly."

79 VINTAGE - "He's not you Synbad."

SYNBAD - "Are you going next?"

79 VINTAGE - "Before I jump Synbad I've got one question - Why do pods of whales beach themselves on mass?"

SYNBAD - "It's the draft picks."

79 VINTAGE - "You're a man of wisdom Synbad. Geranimo"

SYNBAD STANDS ALONE A TOP OF THE RIALTO AND PUSHES AUTO DIAL ON HIS PHONE.

SYNBAD - "Hello Collo, it's Synbad, I know you're in hospital, but I believe we might need a new Recruiting Manager, I'd like to apply for the job."

I feel like I slept with someone who looked a hell of a lot better the night before.

Im not jumping.... im using poison.

The most stupid single act by any club ever in the history of the AFL.

I keep repeating to myself that we beat a team that didnt have Caracella, Richards, Didak, Cloke, Rhys Shaw, Rocca ,Fraser, Tarrant and that cos us the best young kid in the country and maybe another pick in the top 4 and some people are rapt....

Our kids played well against their rabble.

If we win next week were even further behind the eight ball.

Couldn't we jump off the Heatley stand instead? Or get on one of those early morning hot air balloon rides, and all leap out when we float over princes park?

But seriously if we 'win' next week, you won't want to be around me.

John,
The one positive about a win next week, is I've always wondered what a nuclear dawn would look like. I really have too get away from this computer or I'll drive people mad, think I'll go barrack for the Hawks.

Synbad, please explain how you would have ensured we loose this game...??

Play Campo in the middle.
Ive been saying it all year.
Campo in the middle ensures defeat....
instead we play a kid that wants to play football, wants to tackle and chase and win a hard ball.

I got alot of crap from people when i said that you cannot play Campo in the middle because he is as lazy and dishonest as they come.

Campo in the middle = certain loss = Marc Murphy plus another kid + best uncontracted player + best rookie.

PS... the Titanic still went down when it hit the iceberg...
Just because we beat at half strength Collingwood does not mean were on the right track.
In fact if we dont get a PP were further away than ever.

So you claim putting Campo in the middle would have ensured a loss.... The Pies were soooo crappy.. no way we could have avoided to win. And you can not tell the palyers to throw the game. It would damge the young palyers, it would have leaked and the AFL would crucify us. Synbad I think you are unfair on the club. You stated many times in the past that the club knows what needs to be done - an I believe you re right on this one. However this win could not be avoided and such is live... Still think we loose the next 2 and will get good picks.

When i see stupidity like what i saw last night *With my own eyes* and didnt have someone else telling me about it... i know the club is on the wrong path.
When you have a percentage of 70.. and have sustained this incredible percentage for 4 years...
When the club has wasted draft picks in the past... not used them and were where we are now...
when the AFL takes them off us and the coach complains about it as a reason for us being shit..

And when we have them in our hands and just dont do whatever it takes.

The club does not understand the value of the draft and that saddens me.

It saddens me to know that this club has never used the draft system properly and still has not learnt its value as a tool.

No stone should have been left unturned to make sure we SALVAGE SOMETHING MEANINGFUL from this shocking season so this time there is a legacy from this most horrible year.

I reckon the club has lost its way with the new AFL .. were a powerful VFL club that just cant adapt to all this new stuff.
Like my grandparents trying to use a computer... we really just dont have the nouse to go forward.

Unfortunately we also have a lot of supporters who dont get it either.

But we will get it... boy are we going to "get it"...

Lets see how AB goes against a St Kilda/West Coast/Brisbane midfield before we start calling him our extractor.

ThePrez and anti tankers remind me of whats wrong in this modern world. Summed up in one neat saying:

"Instant gratification is not soon enough"

I can believe that as a supporter base, we lack vision. That we would take a junk win against junk opposition over a genuine chance at getting some talent at the club.

In fact, forget sending handbags to geelong. I might just send a whole bunch of glasses to our administrators, 'cause to allow that performance last night, they clearly lack vision.

Hold on Synbad. You have stated here - and not that long ago - that the club knows where it is at, it does the right thing and knows what needs to be done. And suddenly they are idiots... :?

And you can not answer my question what they should have done differently in order to avoid winning. Only that Campo should have played in the middle.... as if that would have changed anything.

I have always agreed with you in regard to that we need picks for long term gain, but there are certain things in live you can't "fix" and then blaming the club the way you do is crap.

I think you and a couple of other posters have become so caught up in the PP logic (with which most of the posters do agree with) that you are loosing perspective and sense of reality. There was no way we could have not won that game last night and any completely contrived action by Pagan would have got us another spanking by the AFL and/or would have damaged our young players.

How could we have lost?

Keep the keys to our future out of the team.

Waite, walker, betts et al to play in the reserves.

Keep Campo and Houla in the middle.

Put Lance out at CHF.

Rotate the @#$%&! out of our midfield so that if someone starts playing well, the are sent to the half back flank.

Employ a full on flood.

That would have done it.

I think by the time Pagan finishes coaching the answer will be there... in the mean time i know what i think mikkey.
Im close enough to the players and the club as well as whats on offer in the TAC to have a pretty good understanding of whats going on in my own mind.
Sure i might be wrong... but im much more objective than Denis or the club.
Im being objective.
We dont have enough talent.

Someone should ask Denis why he said what he said about early picks if they dont mean anything....

Were making it up as we go along because its a long hard road...

Now i hope we keep Lance ...and Digby too... no need to do anything different.
They proved theyre handy last night...

Last night was a great indicator about where the club is at...

Try not to look at the percentage when you look at our second last placing on the ladder..

Because when players like Burgoyne tear it up in the centre, Bentick may be able to stay on the ground because we have match ups that work.

Having blokes like Bentick Bryan and Simpson starting to play like they belong, enjoying their football and winning surely must be better than seeing them play crap.

Benticks game last night was better than anything Walker has played by a fair bit. One was a rookie one was pick two.

I reckon haviing these blokes play like senior players is equal to having a number 1 pick.

Collingwood are big time tankers (cheats). They did it to get Faser and they will continue to. They are where we were at in 2002. They reckon when their players come back they will be a force(they said the same thing last year). Rocca will be injury prone for the rest of his career, tarrant will be touch and go and i dont rate Fraser(pick 1) anymore influencial on a game as our Fisher (7).

I do see your point though Synbad and 79 but i think the day i go home from the footy unhappy that my team just flogged the Magpies is the day i give it away and start collecting model planes.
