...what are your thoughts at the moment?

It is almost a monty that Karl will be delisted over the next few weeks and will be looking to find himself a new home. Given his past off field incidents and his lack of motivation and desire, it would be fair to say that he won't be picked up by another club through any of the drafts.

So, as sponsors of Karl Norman, how do you people feel?

Do you feel let down by his lack of motivation? It is obvious he has talent, but it is quite clear he doesn't have the application to make it as a senior footballer.

Do you feel your money has been wasted?

Had you know what Karl was like, would you have invested your money in him?

Just some off season ponderings for you all...

Well it's more symbolic I suppose, the player that we sponsored was probably never going to be a huge factor.

But I am pissed off that somone who has the two most important things in any walk of life - ability and opportunity - has taken it all for granted and will head back to Wangaratta another 'what if' case.

I don't see it as wasted money, but I do see Karl as wasted ability.

ditto to bluehammer...disappoointed in Karl's attitude but I don't consider it a waste of money.

Not only does the money go to the club (not Karl - then it might be considered wasted) but sponsoring a player gave me immense enjoyment.

with mrs.c and bh

its more money for the club than money for the player.

norman, like angwin, is a damn shame.

they could have been anything but just couldnt get it right. they werent the first though, and unfortunately they wont be the last

My thoughts are that he is only a player. They get delisted, it is tough, but that is how a footy club works. He was given an opportunity, many players don't even get that.

The club is more important and they are the main beneficiary of the sponsorship, it is money the club might not have otherwse had.

The added bonus of course is not only does it benefit the club but also a charity at the same time with the memberships being used in this case to help the Starlight Foundation (?)

It would be great if one of these sponsorships did follow a future club champion, but they do not come around too often, so there may be a few more delistings along the way as well.

karl norman played a few good games in a really bad side

that doesn't qualify as having ability does it?

where was he drafted? pick 79. 7th round of the draft. That's junk time!

I just reckon it's a case of the draft getting it right.

You could mount an argument for saying he overachieved.

Not many pick 79s play as many games as he did.

If we delist him Brisbane are (apparently) going to rookie list him so they can worry about him from then on.

I would rather delist Sporn, Bannister, Davies, Chambers, Clarke, Houlahan and Prenda before Norman.

We need a bit of mungrel like a Martyn Pike and Darly White they look mean and tough not these robotic soft players we got at the moment. Plus coaches like a challenge and Norman is a tough task but he has the goods good kick, tall, quick and trouble.

I'd like to see him do well somewhere, and I think he can..

I know everyone would disagree with me but i'd like to see him stay on for another year... many other players i'd prefer to see go before him.

Looks unlikely though :?

Having 2005 Karl Norman Sponsor under my avatar made me feel like I'm on bluehammer's level round here.

That's the main thing.

I'd echo what others have said. Just not sure what to do with Karl. Has talent just can't get it together.

I think I'd wait til trade week before delisting anyone, if we don't either detect a reasonable replacement in the draft or secure someone via trade week then I'd actually keep him but I'd be letting him know in no uncertain terms that this IS it.

That's the main thing.

Time to replace Tin Tin with something like this:

Then people won't even notice whether you're a sponsor or not. They'll be transfixed by the great man.

i'd be happy to see others go in front of him but it all depends on how much we're gonna invest in this draft, whether we go all the way to rounds 5, 6 and 7.

After seeing karl's smother/catch and instant 50m pass to the top of the fifty in satdy's game against werribee, i'd give him another season, get rid of the c grade midfielders before the c grade backmen

Yep if we delist a tall defender we have no idea!!

The club decided to stick by him and give him a chance. I think they need to see that through with another year. There are just too many that are showing nothing that need to go ahead of him IMO.

I hope he stays for another year. But get a shrink on to him.

I forgot, we can't afford one. :(

Having talent alone is not enough, it's Karl's attitude and behaviour that lets him down.

Nobody doubts his talent.
Karl is extremely high maintenance and has blown every opportunity the club has given him.
In a wooden spoon year, we need to stop prostituting our ideals and draw a line in the sand.

Karl is the past, not the future.
