i would have thought we would be close to 30 maybe 28 or 29,000. This is a little disapointing at this rate id expect us to get 32,000 maybe 33,000

I believe that they only count processed forms - anything that came through thsi week would not be processed as yet - and not count towards our tally - I beleive we weere about 22 this time last year.

It would be quite nice to get my membership stuff which I paid for more than a month ago before the season starts....

A fortnight ago, I was promised it in "about a week".

Not good enough, guys. I don't even have complicated things with my membership, like reserved seating. All I want is the card, cap, etc. How hard can that be?

Spoke to Bruce Mathieson at the Guernsey Presentation Night.
Said the Monday after the WC GF win was the biggest sign up day we have ever had.

I reckon we'll get 30k this year.
Anything more is a bonus.

RU serious? Anything less than 2004's figure of 32K will be a disappointment. With the Wizard Cup victory & transfer of home games to TD & MCG, surely a figure closer to 35K is the target.

Unfortunately there are a lot of people who were disaffected with the move from OO, so they may not renew their membership.

If we get the same as last year, I think the club will be rapt.

On the flip side, there may be new Carlton members joining up who didn't like going to OO. Now that we've moved to Telstra & the MCG, they'll come and watch the Blues play.

There may be some people who ain't happy about us moving away from OO and may not re-join this year, but I think some of these people will eventually get over it and re-join in the future.

Yes, I understand this to be true, however it's my opinion that there will be more who sign up because of the move compared to those that don't sign up as a result of the clubs decision to move on. And as android states, hopefully those that don't sign up, come around eventually.
With all due respect to those carlton supporters old enough to witness many of our glory years (eg 68-72), i believe that it is our 60+ demographic who are having difficulty coming to terms with the move. The younger breed are the future of our great club & the club has made the decision which I'm sure they anticipate will expand our membership base, not diminish it.

Once again, no disrespect to our faithful long-standing supporters intended.

I was talking to a guy in the Sponsorship department at the Family Day who said the club was really happy with viewing numbers in the Wizzer. Total viewers exceeded 1 million v. the 7m that we had for the whole year last year. Presume that these are Melbourne numbers only (?), but to get 1/7th of the way there and the season yet to commence must be providing a bit of confidence for our new sponsors.

Never been more serious.
The amount of people who told me they wouldn't be renewing their memberships this year at last years Dees game when myself and many other TBVers were collecting signatures, was unbelievable.

I reckon we could get 32K+, but IIRC, Micahel Malouf has said himself that he expects a small decrease in memberships this year due to the move.

Sad, but true.

I was expecting that to be the case too pj, but with the way we're playing and considering the reported figures already I wouldn't be surprised if we can give 32K+ a pretty good nudge. A few early wins would help enormously too of course.

GO BLUES!!!

that is my point pj, the carlton supporters who i propose will take up memership this year who did not last year are more than likely the ones who did not turn up to the "Dees game" you mention.

According to carltonfc.com.au we've just nudged over 26.5K :D , and we won't have home games until Round 2 against the Scum, then Round 3 against the filth. Would expect to be over 30K post Round 3.

At this rate, we'll beat our club record (just over 33K) and give 35K a good tilt.

Remember, membership closes by about Round 10 or 11.

By the way, don't forget to collect your membership caps.

I finally got around to getting my membership today. There seemed to be pretty good numbers around the membership tents. Anyone know how many signed up today, and what the current numbers would be?

Signed up Dad and myself at the family day a couple of weeks back, but will take some real talking around from going with the AFL Membership next year. Cheaper, and you get access to more games, Wizza Wok etc.
The only reason I did not do so this year was because of the farewell game at OO.
