Malthouse the man manager is still fine. Malthouse the match day coach is over. I am torn. We are so week as a footy dept. Malthouse is good value. A new coach would have shit support. I am happy to hold Mick for a bit more and grow talent in footy dept and get a decent assistant. Then move mick on. I can see him stay another 12 mths on current contract easily.

That is the scary bit. They players look like they have no idea what they are doing out there. There is no game style that is linked to our team except the crabbing it around the boundary. No method in defending apart from the 2010 version of the press which is no way to stop a team from scoring in 2014. It is terrible and makes us so easy to play against.
GWS were better drilled in holding on to a lead in the last 10 mins. They took 8 mins off the clock without the ball moving 40m. Smart enough to do it. When we had our chance to do it against Bris and Geelong our players were not well drilled enough.
Today we were shown the way by a bunch of kids.

No wonder we loved the Richmond final. It is the only chance we have had to get excited since early 2012.

hey syd ... alot of players that were playing when ratten had us playing back then... arent even playing footy anymore ... the game is very different too.
too bad time doesnt stand still... these days ... ratten is third banana coach at hawthorn .. back then he was our head coach

in the meantime we have had 5 or 6 years of nothing coming through the draft for us.

we have no leaders... out team is old.. and nobody taked front runners seriously anymore....
if u havent developed a team over years to run two ways .. both taught and drafted .. youre pretty much pushing shit up hill.

2 years or 3? How old will he be then?

His actions along with others at the club will mean thousands don't renew their membership for 2015.

Is the new President and the board capable of building a football department through careful and considered appointments? Interviewing a group of assistants before appointing one as senior coach?

Are they able to put MM under the same scrutiny that say a Rogers is put under? Or does he get away with it because he's a "name"? No one should be exempt from scrutiny - we know that MM didn't like scrutiny from those in charge at Collingwood and didn't like assistant coaches voicing their opinions.

So for me this loss barely registered in the upset stakes. Only a few things need to happen over the next few weeks. Those players who need surgery and/or rest shouldn't play again. There were three of those playing last night.

Secondly, a senior assistant coach has to be found. If this is Blake Caracella so be it but I'm not convinced he has senior coaching aspirations. That individual should. I'm confident that process has begun. Lastly, play the likes of Graham, Temay, Watson, Johnson. Give them a taste..see how they handle it. It's not about 2014...it's about 2015. Be brave and daring...try something new.
