I don't doubt Gleeson is switched on but how/why would anyone be pro-Elliot back then when they must've known Elliot was destroying the club?

Depends who butters your bread budzy. A lot of people from that era believe/believed they owed Elliott a lot and let's face it he made of lot of young guys wealthier than they might have been elsewhere. Plus there are many (including some in here) who miss the days when Carlton would "stick it to" anyone who got in their way (I love it when people trying to be tough start using the phraseology of drag queens).

For the record, I don't have a problem with pro or anti-Elliott people being on the board providing they know what they're doing and bring something useful to the table.

In fact the thought of Ian Collins and Wes Lofts on the same board is kind of enticing...

The rest of the board would have to wear chain-mail to board meetings to protect themselves in the cross-fire...

Yeah, I understand that, but in terms of support where do you draw the line. If Elliott had've had enough "supporters" and retained power there might not be a CFC or a TC website right now.
I worry about the unknown agendas & priorities of some of these current suggested candidates.
