Those that maintain that it's all in the development and that the draft's a lottery share something in common with those who want to fill the side with 18 year old 'kids'. That is the fact that they think it's just going to happen.
I am going to agree that Carlton's recruiting/trading has for the majority of the time been bad. For too long errors have been made with recruiting- however, people out there believe this
IS THE ONLY reason why Carlton has been rubbish for 10 plus years.
It is time to broaden the scope.
The AFL has an agenda and Carlton management needs to stand up to the bully.
Let's look at the
"equalisation tax" - this should be Carlton's line in the sand moment. Instead they are as quiet as church mouse.
We have had Geelong's CEO, Collingwood's president, Adelaide's CEO, Hawthorn's CEO...etc etcall of them objecting to this tax. Where is Carlton...no objection to this tax at all.
Carlton's management is hiding in the bunker. Doing nothing, letting the AFL kick sand in its face. At the very least get out there and attack.
Pitch to the AFL, GET THEM TO DO SOMETHING FOR YOU for a change.
No tax should be paid, and instead hand outs should be given to Carlton like what the AFL sponsored North Melbourne get. An extra 2 million dividend this year is the minimum.
On the football show this morning - Leigh Matthews reviewed the match by discussing whether Brisbane should be given the priority pick...Hellloooo!!!
Carlton is the worst team in the competition and Brisbane just thrashed them by 10 goals...why are they discussing Brisbane and not Carlton's need for priority picks?
Give Melbourne, Brisbane and Carlton priority picks (and not just one priority pick each but two priority picks eg Carlton pick 1, 12 and 22). That is the only way they will get it past the media....but get it done.
