An entirely different situation. Was Dangerfield told by his club early in the season that if the right trade comes along then he's out? No. Adelaide would love for Dangerfield to stay and he still might. He's not on the auction table. Respect and loyalty are a two way street.

Been a big fan of Hendo since he came to us but his last 2 years for mine have showed up too many deficiencies. For a team as bad as we are, he should have been smashing it. A bit too much "look like Tarzan, plays like Jane" for mine. Good on the club for telling him to flower off. Not sure his attitude would impress me as a potential employer.

..or Krooz's..

Players who haven't been told by their club they're not wanted. Sure. Fair comparison.

..krooz wasn't promised a spot early this year, or even at midyear if you believe the talk.. ....supposedly sos was very open to the idea of krooz leaving as a F.A to net the probably band 1 compo pick.. ....and the only way krooz would leave, is if you kicked him out.. .... ..krooz started the year with no contract offer.. ..has only recently begun talks.. ..had to come back from injury, after missing plenty footy.. ..you can't knock his effort.. ..unfortunately you can knock hendo's effort, it's understandable but it's also unfortunate.. ..he succumbed..

I reckon this is going to work in our favour.
Doesn't have the mobility or athleticism required. This could be made up for with other attributes such as elite contested marking but he doesn't really have these either.
Will do well as a Key defender in a good team as he didfor us in 2011.
But he was giving us peanuts and his value is highest now.
Better he goes while we can get a trade for him rather than wait til he's a FA.
Demand Geelong's first pick and nothing less. He is worth that given his age. If not, PS draft and redraft him.
Can't afford to be stooged anymore like we were for Grigg, Jacobs, Garlett, Robinson, Eddie etc

There is going to be a mass exodus of players from Carlton by the look of it. A levee bank is used to stop a flood, so too priority picks can stop a flood of lack of confidence within the walls of Carlton.

The AFL should stop pretending they are concerned with equity and actually do something to write the wrongs of the last 15 years.
Provide some priority picks. Even if the picks are in the 20s in the draft. It is better than nothing. Get it done.

Potential far greater than actual output

We must trade on the potential or send him to Te PSD

Carlton have been screwed enough with trades lately, I am sure you all agree with me that a first rounder and a player/or 2nd round pick next year is what we should demand. Shove that in writing to Geelong and wait for them to call- or PSD for him

In the leadership group and didn't give a yelp when he was most needed. I'm sure he's a great bloke, but appeared to just cruise through the year waiting to clear off.

Yep. No thank you from me. Well paid for little output and didn't stand up when need. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

As pointed out earlier, did Mick tell him this then the club, or did it just come from the club - supposedly.

I don't buy it for a second. I think a player must play to his maximum despite what he's been told regarding his future.

He's basically a freelance footballer - in this case, if he gives 100% he attracts a better proposition from 17 other clubs driving his value up.

Chuck it in and sook then he may as well sign up at Centrelink - cause you have no place in the AFL system, IMO.

Thanks for your efforts Hendo. I'm disappointed that Carlton is not able to provide an environment that you want to be part of. Good luck in all your future endeavours, except when you're playing against us.

Henderson may well think he's a professional footballer, but his ''efforts'' this year were mostly unprofessional.
He failed to stand up when the club most needed him. Just all too hard ?

Good riddance !!

What are we thanking him for, taking our money for 6 years when we gave him an opportunity and then bailing when things got tough? He is in the leadership group. This is insipid cowardice. We need players who want to lead the club to success and don't want to land somewhere where it is easy. I am very disappointed in him. He could have been an AA chb for us but he turned his back when we really needed him. I hope Geelong plummet and that we win a flag before he retires. That gives us 6 years. First rounder for us or he can go in the PSD and see how much he likes living in Brisbane.

And where did this stuff come from that he wasn't wanted? Surely we are not making list decisions in April? He could have been a very good player for us but gave us the finger. So our great deal for Fev has netted Hendo who has nicked off and Lucas at #11 who was delisted. Gee we are winners aren't we.

....and keeping Fev would have us where exactly?

At least we might still might get another good player of the Fev picks lineage.

Fair points made here !
Mental toughness is needed at Carlton. He seems a bit fragile.
