Yeah...Nah! Would look silly if the kids they picked were all Kane Lucas/Josh Bootsma types (like we would have done).

THIS!!!!!!!

Bloody hell. It wasn't so long ago that I sat in disgust at Carlton fans cheering on Melbourne so that we could win the Kreuzer Cup!!!! Now we wanna trade him for another draft pick???

Bloody madness I tell you.

It's called time.....that was 7 years ago and we sit almost last. It's a re-build I tells you

My point exactly. In those 7 years, look how far other clubs have progressed. What have we achieved in those 7 years??? A couple of finals series??? Big Deal....... I EXPECT us to play Finals series every year as a minimum - THAT was the type of football club we once were! Now,...... we just content to loose to get draft picks...... and then years later trade those draft picks for more draft picks.

Give me a spell would you!

I'll remind you that Richmond finished below us that year. Look where they are!!!

We've gone nowhere cause we've built up this crap mentality. We are now stagnated.

Read Ronda Rousey's book "My Fight, Your Fight"......... its all about the win!!! Winning...... Challenging....... Fighting..........

THATS what's gonna change this club and rebuild it. Not frigen Draft picks!

This is where Free Agency is rubbish.

It takes a ruckman until about 25-26 to become a very good player.

So you draft a guy at 17-18, and just when he's reaching his prime he walks out.

Anyone who drafts a ruck with a top 10 pick is a fool. Wait till you find out if he's a star and just take him when he becomes a FA.

Exactly kkk, let's take pick 3 now and then grab a ruck (if needed) for free when we are challenging again.

Let's just be very clear here, Kreuzer won't be a trade it will be because he walked out on the club for a better deal after we've looked after him for 3 long years. That's fine, he's entitled to do that but don't get all moral about things when we're in the predicament we are currently in.

Bring in quality young guys and get the cap in order

The more likely scenario here is that SOS is aware of the benefits of band 1 compo and as such has told Kreuz if he receives an offer high enough the club will have to consider their options.

Why do we always assume it's the player's choice? A player cant re-sign if there is not a proper contract to sign.

So what you're saying is there is no contract on the table from Carlton whatsoever?

Smarter man than I thought is SOS!!!!

The more likely scenario is there is a fair offer on the table taking into account the last 3 years and the very intimate knowledge of his medical files!!!

Given that Kruezer has put off talks until the end of the year there may not be.

Considering there are only two weeks of the season and he hasn't signed says to me he is going. How many FA or RFA have signed with their own club this late or after the season?

I agree. I want us to be successful as anyone. One point I'd make is that we (and Richmond) have suffered through the expansion teams diluting the talent pool. Now that they are established it is right timing to go deep into the draft.

Comparing us to Richmond I would argue that there will be a ceiling effect on any rise due to lack of talent. They can only make small incremental steps and will be lucky to get top four, and then that won't last.

Sorry, why are people talking about a pick 3 compo for Kruez?

Am I missing something in regards to Luenberger compo with Brisbane?

Been told services no longer required so probably won't attract a large contract

Nah sorry mate.....

The "draft expansion" is no excuse as to why we are shit! And you are still seeing draft picks as dollar signs in your eyes.

"Drafting talent" is one thing..... Developing and building is another......... Establishing a culture where people, players and fans alike, can be proud of...... That's even something more......

If true I am starting to really like Bolton, before he is even officially confirmed as our new coach. Losing Kreuzer would gut me, and I fear for the message it could send our other A grade footballers, in particular young Cripps. The highlight reel from the weekend seems to indicate that these two enjoy playing together and work extremely well together. Lose Kreuz now and add another 5-10 years to the rebuild time frame I reckon.

It's just a situation I don't think we lose either way. Kruezer or Pick 3 in a rebuild are both good options.

I think people get too emotional about players. Like Betts, Garlett, Waite etc as soon as they go I don't care anymore. For me it's about the club and the club getting back to the top. Players come and go but the club remains.

I also think we are effectively starting again so we will be starting a new Culture to be lead by Bolton & SOS. People talk about Kruezer as important for Culture but he is a reminder of a wasted past so I am not sure I agree.
