Wouldn't surprise me to see Yarran ending up at the Crows - as part of a three way Dangerfield trade between us, Adelaide and Geelong.

I could handle that only if we end up with both their first round picks.

I like....

Is Yarran and say Geelongs second rounder better than pick 14?

I think they'd go for Yarran and our second rounder....

Hendo/Yarran/Pick 20: Picks 9, 13 and ?

What do we want for pick 20? Maybe Geelongs second rounder and Walker.... or Geelong and Crows second rounders

So I read the rules, if Adelaide match the offer, Dangerfield must go into the draft.

How does the timing work? If they don't need to match the offer until after the trade period then they'll threaten to match to try and force Geelong to do a trade. If geelong call the bluff then what happens if Adelaide match the offer, can danger still walk into the draft.

I don't mind Adelaide playing games, let's hope it all goes pear shaped and maybe we can benefit. Unlikely, but a possibility.

Adelaide, being my wife's team, I could handle Yarran going there...

If Geelong wants to hurt Adelaide can't it offer Danger a 1 year contract for a ridiculous amount. If Adelaide matches it costs them a bomb and they still have the same problem next year I think. Might stop the Crows from playing chicken

Second round picks in this draft pool will be useful only for SOSOS and Rice if he chooses us.

I'd jump at picks 9 and 13 because it gets us to 3 picks total in the top 15 - there will always quality at that point if we do our due diligence and pick wisely. Ideally we want another pick around 5 as well though and I guess this is where either the Kreuzer compo or priority pick would come into play. And that's before trades or a potentially nice pick-up in the PSD.

Adelaide and Geelong will trade.
Cats first pick and a player or
Cats first pick this year and next
Don't get your hopes up about any 3 way deals or a first rounder for Henderson.
Dangerfield is their target and he will get to Geelong
Will Adelaide use pick 14 for Yarran??
Cats second round pick for Henderson and Walker, that's what we will receive.
SOS loves Walker for some reason..
The only players that I can see coming in would be,
Walker, Plowman and Phillips (GWS) ruckman.
We want early picks, 4 inside the top 20, which we already have 2.
From my sauce, we are trying to land a tall in the name of Weideman.

It might be a good idea to calm down on us getting royally screwed, do a little research into our new pres and you'll find that doing deals is what he does, it's actually what the whole family does & they are good, very good....getting screwed isn't in their vocabulary!
Don't let the lack of hysterics or commentary fool you, the pres knows how to wield a stick & get a deal done...

Welcome to the world of AFL where rules and statements vary depending on the link you read:

AFL Players - Free Agency Graphic:
http://www.aflplayers.com.au/wp-content ... rahpic.pdf

Quote:
Details of the contract must be lodged with the AFL within 24 hours of reaching agreement and by no later than the end of the Restrict- ed Free Agency Period.
If multiple offers received, player must declare preferred offer before lodgement with the AFL.
AFL wil promptly provide details of the contract to current club.
Current club may match the offered terms by providing notice to the AFL and the Restricted Free Agent within 3 days of receiving notice from the AFL, or by no later than the end of the matching period on Monday 21 Oct.

If existing club matches offer:
Quote:
Stay with existing club OR Nominate for draft OR Seek trade

AFL.com.au:
http://www.afl.com.au/afl-hq/the-afl-ex ... ree-agency

Quote:
Restricted free agents have the right to move to a club of their choice, subject to the current club’s right of first refusal over their services. That is, if the current club can ‘match’ the offer from a suitor club, the player must stay or enter the draft. The tabled offer includes only football payments and Additional Service Agreements (ASA) amounts.

Assuming no FA compo, thoughts on the following?
yarran + 19 -> crows 1st round pick (12) + 3rd round (48)
dangerfield ->cats 1st pick in 2015 (9) + 2nd round 2015 (27)
henderson -> cats 1st pick in 2016 + 2nd round 2016 + walker

Net:
crows -> dangerfield + 12 + 48 -> yarran + 9 + 20 + 27
cats -> 2015 & 2016 1st and 2nd round picks + walker -> henderson + dangerfield
blues -> yarran + henderson + 19 -> 12 + 48 + walker + cats 2016 1st and 2nd round (effective 7 spot upgrade of 2nd round pick, 3rd round picks, mid 1st round + 2nd rounds in 2016 + walker as steak knives)

Impact:
crows get good compo for dangerfield
cats sacrifice 2 years of picks + fringe for 2 players that they've been chasing all year
blue act as facilitators and get good compo for yarran/henderson (compo less good if cats move up ladder in 2016)
