Great news. The guy bleeds Navy. Hopefully his body holds together and he keeps the 2015 form going.
Really happy with this. Nice to see a bloke signing on for less money to stay with the club he loves!

Only because he failed medicals at the pies and the dogs, otherwise he was gone!!! Laughable quote as usual.

Typical comment by you as well. Having a tough time seeing a true blue stay! Oh well, you'll get over it.

True blues don't do medicals at other clubs...

Can you confirm what medical he failed and with whom please?

Great to hear that Kreuzer has signed up. We need his leadership. Now we can delist Warnock.

The pies for starters.

Did he fail a medical at Collingwood, or did he 'fail a medical' at Collingwood?

It might be a good idea to calm down on us getting royally screwed, do a little research into our new pres and you'll find that doing deals is what he does, it's actually what the whole family does & they are good, very good....getting screwed isn't in their vocabulary!
Don't let the lack of hysterics or commentary fool you, the pres knows how to wield a stick & get a deal done...

He was president when we lost Garlett for pick 61, got Jones for 46 & lost Robbo & Waite for nothing yeh?

Assuming no FA compo, thoughts on the following?
yarran + 19 -> crows 1st round pick (12) + 3rd round (48)
dangerfield ->cats 1st pick in 2015 (9) + 2nd round 2015 (27)
henderson -> cats 1st pick in 2016 + 2nd round 2016 + walker

Net:
crows -> dangerfield + 12 + 48 -> yarran + 9 + 20 + 27
cats -> 2015 & 2016 1st and 2nd round picks + walker -> henderson + dangerfield
blues -> yarran + henderson + 19 -> 12 + 48 + walker + cats 2016 1st and 2nd round (effective 7 spot upgrade of 2nd round pick, 3rd round picks, mid 1st round + 2nd rounds in 2016 + walker as steak knives)

Impact:
crows get good compo for dangerfield
cats sacrifice 2 years of picks + fringe for 2 players that they've been chasing all year
blue act as facilitators and get good compo for yarran/henderson (compo less good if cats move up ladder in 2016)

Not bad, but I don't reckon the Crows would be totally rapt with it.

From a Carlton perspective, I would prefer if Geelong traded Walker to GWS for a pick, which they then give to us instead of Walker in the above scenerio.

Whilst the crows wouldn't be rapt with the deal, its probably a stronger overall package than what the cats would offer in isolation. AFL points table would put 20+27 as equivalent of pick 8. Whilst cats might offer 2 X 1st round (2015/16), the future pick carries downside risk (if cats rise up ladder with dangerfield/henderson addition). Imo, the other appeal would be a reuniting yarran with betts - a happier yarran, developed in the right environment -> remember those mcleod comparisons a few years back? (obviously yarran not at same level)

From a carlton perspective, I didn't want to go further than 3 teams for the trade and thus kept it as

blues -> yarran + henderson + 19 -> 12 + 48 + walker + cats 2016 1st and 2nd round (effective 7 spot upgrade of 2nd round pick, 3rd round picks, mid 1st round + 2nd rounds in 2016 + walker as steak knives)

Personally, I'd look for the following from there...
1. 12 -> GWS -> plowman + bugg + phillips (can't see GWS being interested in walker when they have a host of KPP)
2. combining 2 X 2016 2nd round picks (blues + cats) and offering it to either Essendon*/melbourne/brisbane/saints for a 1st round pick (this year or next). Most teams would be expecting blues to remain bottom 2 in 2016 so they'd be projecting picks 19/20 + mid-late 20s pick for a pick around 5-12 in a deeper/stronger draft

Net result

2015 draft -> picks 1 (weitering), 37 (rice), 48 (SOSOS), 56 (rookie upgrades) etc + walker, bugg, plowman, phillips
2016 draft -> 3 X 1st round picks (blues/cats + other team), 3rd round pick etc

Whilst there would be potential to add more 2015 picks by trading bell, casboult etc, I'd bank top 20 picks for a stronger draft next year where possible, or to bring in young players from other teams (highly rated sub-23 yos only)

For 2016
- throw $$$ at FA (hartlett)
- pry out big names from another club using $$$ + ability to wave up to 3 X 1st round picks for right player/s i.e. top liners from GCS/GWS like o'meara/shiel <- if we don't get good value, go the draft.

Why are we giving up Yarran to upgrade our pick from 19 to 12 and accepting pick 48 for the privilege?

No need to involve picks 19 and 48

The 3 components are the one trade (but broken up into 'units') - you wouldn't pull the trigger on any subset of the trades without the others -> fair value is the net trade result.

We were pretty quick to let Kruez go when Collingwood started sniffing and we thought we might get a number 2 pick. Loyaltys a two way streak. Let's just be happy he's signed on and back on board. I don't begrudge either party the right to do what they did. That's what free agency is all about and we may as well get used to it. Kruez will bleed for us again next year, I have no doubt... (Just hoping it's not of the medical variety :)

When matty comes out and says that he did a medical at another club then you can comment on that fact. Do not put a player down when it may not be true

Sure. What's your point? Most people here would let Kreuz go to get pick 2. But when it became clear that we might just get a second rounder, I think most people are happy he is staying.

Could have had all of them!

Bootsma before Hill
Watson before Smith
Puopolo went at 66 and we chose Luke Mitchell at 45.

Anyway, sorry to open old wounds !

If we take this Walker pumpkin, this club has learned nothing and should burn.
Add to that Plowman and Carlisle too, unless we can get them in the PSD, the way to rebuild is THROUGH THE FU%*EN DRAFT.
When will this pri*k of a club realise that spots on a list should be valuable and not wasted on the likes of Jones Tutt Ellard Armfield Warnock Rowe etc etc
It's one thing to make recruiting and drafting mistakes every club does but we compound it by not admitting and or realising it
FFS Carlton take all our picks we get to the draft, this draft is fine there will be talent left late

Seriously, why do we bother with these ridiculously complicated multi club player + picks + upgrades propositions? They never, ever happen.
