I am another that can't believe the number of posters that cannot see what a unique opportunity these talented young athletic KP GWS players (Tomlinson and Plowman) present to our club to acquire relatively cheaply at the start of a long rebuild when we are virtual void of young key position talent. The draft is a crap shoot after the first couple of picks and these guys have shown they can play. I will be over the moon if we get them. In SOS we trust.

Am happy to pick up the GWS crop but just don't want to give up first round picks to do it (this year or next...).

If Phillips was coming out of contract he'd be getting delisted and plenty of clubs would be circling with a two-year contract.

I hope we don't get him, but recognise that the only way we're acquiring him is as filler in a Plowman/Sumner/Tomlinson trade, similar to Lamb. Personally think we'd be better off picking a state league player either in the ND or rookie draft, or trying to acquire Nuyon in the second round.

Phillips is marginally better than Wood at best.

Comments like these just bring back memories to the days when Sauce was considered a dinosaur ruck man, way too slow for the modern game. Wasn't popular amongst fans in his stint at Carlton as a rookie.

Comments like this make me think you believe all red heads are the same.

Sauce had about 15 kilos on Phillips at the same age (Phillips is 24) and I honestly still think Jacobs is still a liability because he's the only regular lone ruckman in the league that doesn't directly improve his team's chances. Sandilands, Goldstein and Mumford dominate, while he helps Adelaide eek out a few extra premiership points on the aggregate due to an extra midfielder; he's not in the same class as them.

Could not give two shits about AA status, where are Adelaide despite his dominance? Mid-table, same as they have been for some time.

Could we have used Sauce during the year? Sure.
Would we have used him the way Adelaide used him? After about round 9, no.

For the record, Phillips is more athletic than Sauce, I just don't think he's a consistently good ruckman due to his lack of endurance. He tires easily, when he should be showing genuine improvement at 24. Sounds more like Warnock, doesn't it?

No, Warnock just never put in on the field. Not sure if it was mental or attitudinal. He actually is fit testing high in beep tests. He just does not get to contests. In al the games I have watched him I did not see him in front of a pack taking a contested mark. Just watching the highlights of Phillips, you see him take marks in front of packs. His lumbering style reminds me of Jacobs not Warnock and at the age of 24 still has plenty of time to reach his peak.

Downgrading Jacob's achievements as a ruckman reflects poorly on your judgement.

I'll give you that, but they both suck at getting up and down the field. I don't think for a second that Phillips isn't close to his peak. Five years in the system now; been with GWS since the beginning.

If you could have a player parked in the shed to bring out at finals time you could do worse than Warnock, just ask West Coast!!!!

I've given up on this view of Warnock.

IMO the thought of Warnock for finals is so 2011: 4 seasons ago.

Warnock has not improved since that final, in fact he has made a fool of himself, the team and the club over the last 2 years.

If he still does well in beep tests, which I doubt, he is therefore a lazy so and so because he doesnt TRY to present at the next contest.

Yarran to Richmond for Lennon + pick 31 , pick 31 to Hawks for Anderson. Yay or nay?

Works for me but no way Hawthorn will take 31 for Anderson

And no way Richmond will trade Lennon. The only decision for Lennon is sign the offered contract or walk to the PSD.

Appears trade week and draft prospects not going very well.
Received the following in the mail today: "LEVI, WE NEED YOU!"
Now, either they are appealing to my 9 month old baby boy, Levi, and while his ball skills may be considered reasonably good for his age... ; OR, Casboult just happens to live next door and is not answering his phone!

Now come on you blokes. The List Manager has apparently reviewed our list on Trade Radio and no one has given us a summary of what he said. You know we are all breathlessly waiting

With Lennon re signing with Tigers and Brisbane and Pies talking Regarding Aish, looks like our so called number 1 PSD pick is next to useless.

That would be right. It's like we are getting booted in the arse whilst we lay comatose on the pavement.

Logically, no current player good enough and young enough would want to come to Carlton in our current state
