Could be that I'm wrong, but I'm sure someone will be able to produce the dates for these things. Heaven knows we've had that arguement enough times.

AFL decided to go with Docklands/ close Waverley start of 97. Legends stand commenced being built end of 95 & was opened in 97 season.

but when the opportunity came to develop TD why do you think Channel 7, who at the time where probably thinking they will have the tv rights forever, saw the benefit of having a stadium, with pre-built access from all parts of the state and build a brand new stadium and the AFL could see the benefit in them owning a Stadium as well so after all that the AFL just about threw away any previous deals the club had in place and now has an absolute monopoly over the draw, as we saw after getting shafted by the AFL and the debacle that was leaving OO.

Ch 7 did not build the stadium. They bailed out the initial owners (not sure who) who were losing money.

you sure about that? i was under the impression that channel 7 owns the ground and that the afl will somehow own outright in 20 years or something along those lines?

I'm sure it was Colonial Stadium originally who went under....was it Rodney Adler?

i thought colonial was nothing more than "naming rights"

and had no input who didnt and did own it.

didnt there use to be a big @#$%&! off 7 plasted all over the joint becuase 7 owned it? Indeed, didnt 7 base some of their offices out of the joint? i will ring a mate who worked for channel 7 at the time and see what he remembers.

I was going to keep away today, but alas Sydney your wisdom has once again bought me to the for. Sad day this.

Good on you Surrey, once again you have not disappointed!

For a start,buy a Membership!

I don't know how many others are out there, who perhaps share my irritation of those so-called supporters who some how delight in our predicament to point score. It seems to me that a refusal to buy a Membership ticket is nothing more than a cop-out and does little to assist.

What this whole debate has highlighted is the unrealistic expectations of Members..

1)Get rid of Collins et al and all wil be well.....Sorry,but who would want to take control and will they do any better?.
2)At least under Elliott, this would not have happened!????....What a load of crock and a complete ignorance of the "true state of affairs".This (Elliott)Administration went as close as one could imagine to destroying our Club both Structually and Financially..For the former look at our list at the start of 2002!
3)Why don't the Pratts of the World bail us out?.After all we are Carlton!...

The greatest dream of all time!..You know why they are successful?....It,s because they don't throw good money after bad.UNTIL,we the common Supporters are prepared to accept the true picture, do not expect a White Knight to come riding in on his charger. If i were Richard Pratt i would be looking for an affirmation by ALL Supporters!

Wake up i say,we are not in a position to live on our History. The Elliott regime changed that completely!

Yes that's right. They may have been a part owner originally but now own the stadiun outright & eventually the AFL will take it over.

Colonial had the naming rights originally but were bought out by CBA who then handballed it to Telstra.

I just think it is a shame we couldn't get through this year without a handout as with the new TV rights deal starting next year, you would hope that ALL clubs are entitled to a bit of a cash injection ... and hopefully that will be enought to get us out of the mire.

More than the past 3 years.
Give me a break and get back in your box.
You keep harping about the same thing over and over and over again and yet this is what you come up with.

The members/supporters and I got behind the club for three years running. Why do you think we kept breaking membership records??? :?
Time for the club to start showing intiative, or does it work just one way.

Pagan! He is a big crowd puller. The fans flock in just to see him at work.

i will be very surprised if any of that money follows into the clubs.

mark my words as gospel.

we will be spending money on developing the game IN MARKETS THAT DONT WANT IT

we will be increasing player wages etc..

if this game generated 500 million a year like some like to suggest - why the @#$%&! is any club in need of financial assitance?

Well said 7dom, this is the time we need supporters to get behind the club and buy a membership. For supporters who are not happy with the administration, buy a bloody membership and go to the AGM and vent your spleen there - whats the point of just namby pambying about on these forums whingeing. Stand for the Board if you want to. But just turning up your toes and saying you are not going to buy a membership is weak and literally cutting off your nose to spite your face.

As for accepting money from the AFL I am more astounded by the AFL who would countenance giving us our $1,000,000 fine back - the hypocracy of that is in the words of the great Harry Hoo is "amazing".

Taking that money would be like selling our souls to the devil.

Surrey has a mind? :?

As Wallsy said after Black Friday we just have to suck it up, because how many here didn't revel in Elliott trying to beat City Hall?

Its time for alot of the board to just lay down their arms and go.
I truly believe there are alot of Carlton people with progressive ideas waiting on the wings for an opportunity.
Succesful people dont like shit fights.... they dont want to be in a paper.. they have stockholders to answer to.. blah blah.

This board has gone as far as it can go in my opinion.

And yes i know a few of them from very close up.
some might be good guys.. but we dont need good guys.. we need visionaries that come with plans.

We have had no real plan except to slash.
You can only slash so far...

The guy that took us to this mess isnt even allowed to hold a directorship forced upon him by the law of this land (Surrey Sydney and The Game).... usually youre fupped from holding a seat on a board if youve [REDACTED] up big time...!!!

MAke no mistake.. how he ran his own company is how he ran this club.
He was travelling insolvent with his own business and so was this club.. (Which is an offence you simpletons!!!!!

One of our board members on seeing the books when ythey got in thought we should just hand the keys back to the AFL.... and the only reason we didnt.. was because it was Carlton!!!!

So how a fools fool can sit there and say its only just this boards fault i dunno.

Though this board has gone as far as their potential will take us.. and we need tomorrows men ... today!!!

I've tried 5 times to write a reasoned post. Synbad think's I'm good with words... but not today. The only thing I can really say is:

To not get a membership when faced with the current plight of Carlton, when faces with today's news, is just pissweak.*

* subject to finances, of course

We've had record membership, there is no membership problem.

Who are these great candidates just waiting in the wings ... I don't see them??!!!

It's no good mentioning names like Fitzpatrick and Grollo because at no stage have they ever indicated they want to come on board. And it's no good criticising the likes of Pratt and Mathieson for not putting money in when they have supported the club for so many years.

Its about coming up with a sustainable future plan - NO-ONE has the answers at the moment.

There is when we're 3000 below this time last year and staring at 26,000 members rather than 35,000. Thats $1.8m
