Only watched the last two minutes. You can't tell me umpires aren't encouraged - explicitly or implicitly, who knows - to put their finger on the scales when there's the chance of a one-kick game. No excuse for not checking VAR on the rushed behind. The Campbell high tackle was an absolute disgrace, a cheating action that even the blindest and most corrupt umpire would not pay under any other circumstances. I'd also like to see the centre circle "high tackle" leading up to it again. Note also that the umpires started calling the game properly as soon as it was down to 2 points, hence not giving HTB against Ainsworth despite the encouragement of the commentators. They're not trying to steal the game from us, just willing to risk stealing it for the sake of drama. Gotta give the talking heads material for the coming week.

The Voss coached team did better than the Fraser coached team vs Richmond

I'm interested in the up coming games. We'll win some, we'll lose some but still interested in how they go about it and who comes in and out of the team. Ison for one needs a rest.

Hewett, Haynes and Jagga excused.

The rest can GAGF.

And Fraser is very smart not to commit to this rabble.

If you are celebrating that performance then you are part of the problem.

If anything, I reckon it’s almost the opposite.
There are many great players at other teams who would never have had the opportunity to become the players they did if they’d been at Carlton due to the incessant, overblown criticism they get from the supporters who spend way too much time and energy bagging them rather than actually supporting them.
This goes back to the later days at Princess Park where I was horrified to see Carlton members who were much more critical of, and frankly rude to, our own players and coaches than they were of our opponents.

Sure, we’ve got lots to work on but the world is not collapsing. Were one of three teams to have won 7 in a row this season. The other 2 are the top two teams. After we had lost 8 of our first 9 games. With a list that nobody thought was top 10 even before the season exposed our poor form.
We got uncharacteristically smashed in the midfield and still found a way to win. Personally, I think that was a 5-6 goal win without some of those ridiculous umpiring decisions which not only gave them unwarranted goals but also stopped our momentum.
A few players went missing but others played well. Kemp was a classic example of the team - he dropped some marks he would normally take but also kicked a couple of goals he would normally miss.
We have much to improve but the club is on it and, in the meantime, we have been winning.

And I’m not sure of the value in unequivocally stating as fact that anybody celebrating that victory is part of the problem. I don’t think it is such a binary thing. And if you disagree, that doesn’t make you ‘part of the problem’. It just means you have a different opinion.

Maybe the conditions, maybe the oppo have adjusted to what we are trying to do, maybe past our peak conditioning, or maybe cracking with growing expectations but we have have moved away from the gamestyle that got us on a roll. Too many long kicks, less risky kicks into the middle of the ground and less loose ball hustle / knock ons. We look pretty good when our pressure is up over 200 but we arent keeping it there for long.
We also look to not be covering the ground as well as we did a month ago.

We are due a loss and I am expecting a clump of them in the coming weeks.

Good to get a win last night. It was a 20pt win with a bit of close game practice thrown in at the end.

Go Blues.
Good analysis.
When it got greasy we were still playing too much dry weather footy with too much handball.
There were plenty of times when just muscling the ball forward would have been a good option. On that front (with hindsight) Acres would have been handy.

I haven't seen the stats but it feels like our pressure was down, especially midfield and forward.
Can anyone confirm?

Unfortunately we are massively dependant on the performance of one player. If Cripps fires, it creates opportunity for ball movement, run and creativity. If he gets it more than 25 times, our performance directly correlates with those numbers as it is generally off the back of his clearance dominance. The teams that have kept him to low 20's possessions or less have taken us apart. Saints and Swans games he had 14 and 19. His 2 lowest tallies of the year and they both demolished us. Last night the Tigers played him well early. Tying him up, pushing him through the stoppages and he had no impact early. (3 possessions in the first quarter). 3 of Richmonds first quarter goals came from clearance.
Once he got going, so did we.

That's the challenge for the coaches because his best is still exceptional. But his floor will understandably drop as he gets older and banged up if it's not already. We're not alone. A lot of teams are quite reliant on the performance of one player but we need to find ways around it. Firstly because he can't go on forever and secondly, we need to find other ways to win. Our game style is expanding very well but our source is still too dependant on one player. Hopefully Crippa hangs in there until Jagga and/or Cody Walker create a different midfield dynamic for us.

Tigers supporters having a cry about the umpiring in the dying seconds.
Y'all got your last two goals from three free kicks in a row. Shouldn't have been that close.

100% that game last night is the kind of game we'd have lost this last 3 years.

good to get a win and survive. hopefully internally it feels like a loss and we see them bounce back against proper oppo next week.

good teams win ugly on nights they're off. so we ticked a box.

Least self aware supporter base in the comp. After Collingwood.

Rubbish. Take a better look at the two tackles he took on in the last minute

Well said 17th.

I add, we are a team that is a work in progress. We all know that. Plenty of work to do. A result like this one is a bonus - we get the 4 points and we don’t get ahead of ourselves (which isn’t exclusive to the playing group)
