Bondiblue, I don’t think we need to be that prescious about what we write or say to avoid an unsubstantiated fear that we may persuade someone to act differently. I want a successful Carlton. I want a strong Carlton. I want our footy club to be flying and be the best in the land.

Doesn’t mean we need to cocoon ourselves from speaking honestly and being frank about the way things are. I’m sure there are many more factors, as you pointed out, to the demise and inability to improve our situation through under funding and poorly resourced departments, but they are indicative of the situation Carlton is in.

I respect and even concur with some of your sentiments that merging is the last thing that Carlton should do or contemplate, but I don’t think I should be criticised for discussing an unpopular view. Or even one that people might think can be damaging.

IMO, I believe that some Carlton fans have forgotten how to enjoy themselves, win or lose, and this contributes to the mood that deters people from wanting to associate with unhappy, dispirited people. I know for a fact, that even as a party animal, I don't go to parties where people going to be there are not fun to be around.

You might have a point here. That's definitely something I can relate to with the Carlton supporters I know. We have just been too accustomed to success and have all suffered terribly in the last few years.

Catering contracts maybe? Not sure there. Geelong aren't paying off their stand either.

Looking over I must have been imagining things. Their stand cost $28 million, how much did they loan?

So we should talk about unrealistic sweet and sugary struff so that bondi can feel good......

were last because were crap at quite a few areas of our management of this footy club not because were doing most things right...

By pretending were ostrachises and burying our head in the sand were just going to get ar$e raped even more...

Yes its great to support your club and just talk about 'grouse' and 'ace' stuff... but youd be kidding yourself.

While there are some good things happening.. there are also thyings that need to be addressed and not ignored.

What are the things that need to be addressed and not ignored, and more importantly how can I address them?

I will start tomorrow (I have a birthday party to go to tonight).

As I said before 2 teams will relocate to Queensland and NSW because the population base is there.Take Geelong out of the equation and you have 9 teams in one city of 3.5 million and 2 teams in population bases of 1.5 million. Then there is Sydney and Brisbane. The divide continues to grow but Bondi Blue you dont seem to acknowledge the fact that 9 clubs in Melbourne is a no go.It simply cant work as certain clubs spiral into more debt.TV rights is a huge money player now,not just memberships and Gate takings.

The culture of footy has changed so much but certain supporters still seem behind the times.

The criticism of Carlton to not keep up with the times to enhance its once powerful state is a fair response.
I am all for being positive but I am also a realist and if we dont act now this club has a great chance of not being a club we once had.

The Dem has said that one of the AFL's goals is to further enhance the game in the Northern States.Gees I wonder what he means here. And he wants 16 clubs in the comp.A perfect number for the final 8.Its all about making the game truly national and it will happen. The AFL dont give a shit about tradition.

Why are the Bullies building a new complex out on the Hawkins wing. Why have the Hawks gone to Waverley.etc.Because they dont want to be the next club to go north.

Where stuck with Optus a stand where paying off that nobody sat in, where paying a guy a million who is past his best .,where paying a coach around 700000 a year who has question marks against him and we have signed him to 2008 after a so so year in 2004.Are social club is [REDACTED].Our president has a conflict of interest with the fact that he runs the ground that is our home and that is costing us money and that we are 7 mil in debt paying .5 mil in interest. This is third world stuff .

Gees Bondi Blue it is hard to be positive when all this shit is going off the field and we are getting further and further behind the other clubs as our national competition continues to change and grow in different directions.I am going tomorrow and look forward to seeing the future on display. The Benticks, the Fishers and the Simpsons.I go to games and love to see young talent develop. In fact I reckon we are a real chance against the Dees.

But hey I cant help think that unless there are drastic changes to the board and successfull innovations to get us out of the enormous financial debt we are in the future could be in another state.

Anyone who thinks Carlton are safe in its current form are living in fantasy land.

A second team in Queensland is eons away at the moment. If it's a strong team (a la StKilda) who will win more games than it loses, then it would work. Otherwise, the support will be minimal up here. It's the culture.

which is why realistically carlton would be a good fit. Big supporter base, young list (we're talking at least two more years here) going somewhere etc.

The Cararra Blues!

Do I think it will happen - no.

Do I think it can happen - yes.

as much as I do not think the sky is falling we are a long long way back and each post must be a winner or we could be up shit creek (cararra) without a paddle (me). Hey do I win the cliche sount this week?

I think for starters finding a personality will help .. before you get there....do not leave for tomorrow what you can start today...

If the Blues were competitive in two years, then it would be more realistic.

A team getting flogged each week up here would end up getting 5000 (max) a week.

But in two years I expect us to be very competitive - say we finish third last this year - that's pick three plus pick (@#$%&! i hate maths, but you know that other high pick), 2 more stars. Then the pick or two the year after

Tex, Fisher, Waite, Murph, Kennedy, Bower, Edwards, Setanta, AB, Simmo, Carrots, Hartlett, Russell, plus three more plus others, and 1 or 2 rookies that take the step up, hmmm not a bad list to sell to a Brisbane crowd two years from now.

The hard tough groundwork is nowhere near done. There has to be a massive cultural shift up here before a second team could challenge the Lions. And to do that, it will have to be a competitive team, challenging for the finals, otherwise the punters up here will walk away and find something else to do (Lions/Broncos/Reds/Raw).

We're not going anywhere. We're not in the same boat as North or the dogs.
