The AFL wishes to advise the Match Review Panel has assessed the following incidents from the weekend's round of matches. Please note that the Match Review Panel deliberations are not yet complete.
Charges Laid:
Ryan Hargrave, Western Bulldogs, has been charged with a Level Three striking offence against James McDonald, Melbourne, during the second quarter of the Round Two match between the Western Bulldogs and Melbourne, played at Telstra Dome on Saturday April 8, 2006.
His two-match suspension cannot be reduced with an early plea, due to his prior record.
The incident was assessed as reckless conduct (two points), medium impact (two points), in play (no points) and high contact (two points). This is a total of six activation points, which relates to Level Three offence, drawing 225 demerit points and a two-match suspension. He has an applicable bad record of four matches suspended within the last three years which increases his penalty by 30 per cent (67.50 points) and a further 21.88 residual points, increasing his penalty to 314.38 points and a three-game suspension. An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to 235.79 points and a two-game suspension.
David Hille, Essendon*, has been charged with a Level Two striking offence against Mitchell Clark, Brisbane Lions, during the fourth quarter of the Round Two match between Essendon* and the Brisbane Lions, played at the Gabba on Saturday April 8, 2006.
His one-match suspension cannot be reduced with an early plea, due to his prior record.
The incident was assessed as reckless conduct (two points), low impact (one point), in play (no points) and high contact (two points). This is a total of five activation points, which relates to a Level Two offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match suspension. He has an applicable bad record of two matches suspended within the last three years, which increases his penalty by 10 per cent (12.50 points) and a further 43.75 residual points, increasing his penalty to 181.25 points and a one-game suspension. An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to 135.94 points and a one-game suspension.
Paul Medhurst, Fremantle, has been charged with a Level Three engaging in rough conduct offence against Ryan Houlihan, Carlton, during the first quarter of the Round Two match between Fremantle and Carlton, played at Subiaco on Saturday April 8, 2006.
He can accept a one-game suspension with an early plea.

Will Slade, Geelong, has been charged with a first offence for wrestling Leigh Harding, the Kangaroos, during the first quarter of the Round Two match between Geelong and the Kangaroos, played at Skilled Stadium on Saturday April 8, 2006.
He can accept a $900 fine with an early plea.

Steven King, Geelong, has been charged with a first offence for wrestling Shannon Grant, the Kangaroos, at the first quarter siren of the Round Two match between Geelong and the Kangaroos, played at Skilled Stadium on Saturday April 8, 2006.
He can accept a $900 fine with an early plea.

Matthew Scarlett, Geelong, has been charged with a Level Four striking offence against Leigh Harding, the Kangaroos, during the first quarter of the Round Two match between Geelong and the Kangaroos, played at Skilled Stadium on Saturday April 8, 2006.
He can accept a two-match suspension with an early plea.
The incident was assessed as intentional conduct (three points), low impact (one point), behind play (one point) and high contact (two points). This is a total of seven activation points, which relates to Level Four offence, drawing 325 demerit points and a three-match suspension. He has no applicable good or bad record. An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to 243.75 points and a two-game suspension.
Other incidents assessed: No Charge Laid.
The match day report laid against West Coast's Quinten Lynch was reviewed. It was the view of the Match Review Panel that Lynch initially threw his leg out but was quick to realise the danger of his action and withdrew his leg quickly to avoid any contact. The charge was subsequently withdrawn.
Contact between Melbourne's Matthew Whelan and the Western Bulldogs' Adam Morgan from the third quarter of Saturday's match was reviewed. It was the view of the panel the impact made by Whelan was deemed to be below the level required to constitute a reportable offence. No action was therefore taken.
Contact between Fremantle's Josh Carr and umpire Martin Ellis from the first quarter of Saturday's match was reviewed. The contact was deemed to be accidental and no further action was required.
The AFL Match Review Panel also investigated an incident where contact was made to Carlton's Marc Murphy during the first quarter of Saturday's match. Due to a lack of vision of the incident or any other evidence from any party which could identify the player or players responsible for the contact to Murphy, no further action could be taken.
For charges laid by the Match Review Panel, clubs and players have until 11am tomorrow, Tuesday April 11, to decide whether to accept the penalty allocated, or to contest the case.
