Yeah he insinuated it.... thats what a moron he is..

And for the guy who thinks going on telly and telling thw world the club is [REDACTED] to advertise for corporates.. and it was a good idea.. you obviously dont understand business.

A good president has the clout and pull to go out into the business world and attract the people/companies with money..
Doing it like this only makes corporates run the other way....

Sure a Pratt might come forward... but thats not because he was watching the benefit concert on the footy show for the tassie miners when he saw smorgons plea for help .....

The world is so much more sophisticated than that today... and there are ways of doing this professionaly...
we reak amateurism and come across like the keystone cops...

I have to admit that GS in his media interviews has not come across well at all. I would almost rate his media presentations in the same league as the infamous whiteant speach at the EGM by what's his name (brain dead at the moment.... Mr Just Jeans... ).

Anyway, even in my poor current state, I am extremely concerned not only on tonights presentation but his overall communication and portrayel (if thats a word). Not knowing really anything about his leadership stregnths and abilities, I am verry worried about his communication or presentation skills. Please don't take this as a personal attack, for that is the last thing I'm trying to incite. but thought needs to be put in for better communication and presentation.

Timing is also of great importance. Why in the hell would you co-incinde it with raising money for the Beconsfield miners ? I'm just a a big loss at the moment. How can the board even contemplate obtaining the same membership figures after winning the wooden spoon. I'm seriously worried about our once famous club. Some serious things need to start happening and one thing is the clubs communication.

smorgan made it public so we could get more corporate sponsors. simple as that

A very odd and curious way to go about it, don't you think? How did any of tonight's 'developments' enhance our standing, or thrust us forward as an attractive commercial or corporate investment opportunity? As has been said previously, we're supposedly at full-quota in regard to sponsorship deals anyway (although one suspects they're not the most lucrative in the competition). The blue chip days are long gone. It was merely a membership drive, as far as I can determine, but certainly an odd one.

Something just doesn't gel about all this, and I'm curious at to what the board are up to.

Don't put all the blame on Collo either - remember that Smorgon was his VP for the past 3 years!!!

The only real news that came out tonight is that Smorgon is not the man to be President. Anyone who thinks they can get corporate support by telling the world that we are bust and may go under is a clown of the highest order. Smorgon inherited his wealth, has passed very little of it to Carlton and has no idea about building a business.

He is the wrong person to lead us and tonight proved it. Who needs The Age and Caroline Wilson to crap all over us when we have Graham Smorgon.

Greg Lee is the only person on this board (given that Matheson wont do it) too lead this club.

Apart from Elliott what about the AFL (Evans, the Spew) who crippled the club with the fines and draft sanctions.

How a win this week would take some pressure off
Not a lot, but just enough to maybe woo some money towards the club.

having Essendon* and brisbane down below us would also divert a bit of media traffic. 8)

Sure he stuffed us, but we have been rid of him for 3 years. This board has done nothing but make a bad situation worse. New directors (and President) now please

Its abit like any dynasty.. empire... it just decays with success because it becomes complacent...
we just need some real go getters.. and not trippers to run the club...

Tonight was like having a bad acid trip...

This board was offended with "Bluebeggers" in the Age and they allowed tonight to happn on the Footy Show...???

Perverse...

In all honesty, I am sick to death of it's such and such fault, and if he didn't do this and if such and such didn't do that. You can not re-write history. I am feeling very uneasy. I have put as much as financially possible into the club to help it. I want to see strong leadership, some vision, the goals and ojectives and see how they are being measured and if we are achiveing these. The only thing I hear is we have a 3 year plan and we will be moving forward. Well if going insolvent is our way forward, God help us.

Bring in Strong leaders with lateral vision and imagination. But the concern is, how can our board find them if we are going from bad to worse to annihilation. Shite!!!

Please somebody tell me we are joking about paying LESS than 92.5% of the cap - PLEASE!!!!!

We want to fix our on field performances and pay LESS than 92.5%????? And what sort of players will we be attracting/retaining with that sort of salary cap???

We are officially a rabble. I have been trying to avoid coming to this conclusion, be there's no getting around it. We are the worst parts of Fitzroy and Richmond combined. I seriously can't believe it.

Man how drastic was our punishment for cheating the salary cap? Talk about @#$%&! a club.

I think we need an Eddie McGuire type of president. We have had our Rose, now we need someone that promotes the club publicly whenever they can, not afraid of tackling the issues and talking about their situation like adults, not just in cliches.

We can't go back in time, but my God something drastic has to happen at CFC or else Brizzy's suggestions will start becoming "viable" options.

The salary cap cheating didnt bring us here... years and years of people who are not capable around the club did...
not understanding the new ways of the AFL but being stuck in our VFL history..

you must be forward thinking all the time...

the world changes...

unfortunately for us .. we werent changing with it.

Well we better start now...

there are enough powerful/ smart Carlton people out there....it will turn around... but not with the clowns we have atm.

Bloody hell what has happened to this football club! :( Surely one of the greatest falls from grace in Australian sport?

Can someone please explain how we are still $7m in debt or whatever it is? What does it actually mean that our "cash-flow" is so poor? In general how have our financial problems become this bad and why do they always seem to be getting worse?

The club deserved to virtually be destroyed by the actions of one man?
