Ok ok.... Then to John M, Molsey, Nightcrawler, Ryan 8024 and Steve. Who do you suggest leads our club? What do we do now? I'm sincerely interested to see what all of you think Carlton should do.

no offence cinque, but there's a million threads on what sort of person should be our president, etc, etc...

I think it's fair to say that most people would give their left nut to convince Mike Fitzpatrick to run the club. Either him or Dick Pratt and his squillions, along with a CEO the calibre of Brian Cook, or a young gun like Daniel Grollo or the current CEO of the NAB, who probably doesn't have the time.

Any of these guys would be better than a man who may well love the club, but has dragged more businesses into financial shit than the entire Enron boardroom put together.

You're right John. The list of people who would like to be president of Carlton would be endless. What about Sticks? Its been mentioned by a few peolple - including John Elliott. What attibutes would you need? To be respected, to have a good football mind and a business one as well. One other thing. The amount of money some of the people have on our board is rediculous. I mean Mathession, Pratt, Valmorbidda, Grollo. All of these guys would consider $7 mill as pocket change. Not forgetting Smorgan either. Whats stopping a one off gifts from these guys to pull our club out of trouble. And I'm not volenteering any of these guys in case people were wondering. I'm more curious to see if its allowed.

Ciao Cinque,

è quello voi elliot del john? o appena uno dei suoi cronies?

There is no way a donation would be allowed cinque, it just would not be fair to those clubs that don't have such generous benefactors.

By the way, welcome to TC, your posts are very incisive and show a depth of thinking yet to be found on this site.

Regards
Ockham

Are you serious?

You're not allowed to make a donation to a football club?

When did that rule come in?

Am I missing something here? :?

GWS....I assumed he was being tongue in cheek.....but.....there are some very peculiar posts appearing since our win.

We win....it's bad....we lose.....it's bad.

I happened to bump into some people in the know this morning and they were telling me that this Bryce Gibbs is a star in the making and one of / if not the best player to come through the game in the last ten years. Maybe thats why peolpe are a little apprehensive to applaud our win. Maybe the supporters would like us to have a good crack at this years draft..... Its just a thought....

Sorry GWS, I should have added a very large serve of tongue in check.

I can't quite believe some of the posts that our newest member, John Elliot, whoops, cinque has posted. In my opinion they are some of the most inane statements that I have ever read.

regards

Ockham

These people have lots of money, sure. Does that mean they don't care about money? Quite the contrary. I would think sucessful business people get to that stage because they know and decide where every one of their pennies goes.

Would you donate money to an organisation Cinque that had not convinced you they knew what to do with it?

It's the old "teach a man to fish".

While I've no idea what it would feel like to be that wealthy, I can say with a fair bit of confidence that I wouldn't just be tossing my money at the 'department of worthy causes'.

If any business man is going to toss in money to help us out I'd want them to feel confident that we have the right people in place to put it to the best possible use.
