This is my first post on talkingcarlton

Last week i travelled to Adelaide with a mate to watch carlton play. I have never missed a carlton game played in melbourne in the last 15 years, however this was my first interstate game i have been to
After the supporters function at glenelg my mate and were lucky enough to run into nick stevens, heath scotland and lance whitnall on the main streets of adelaide.

All 3 of them were extremely nice and thanked us for coming to see them

After speaking to nick stevens for several minutes i had a good feeling about the carlton football club. He kept on re-iterating, stick with us mate,
we'll get there, keep through the hard times, coz the good times will be even sweeter"

Obviosuly as a player I expect him to say this, however, you had to be there to see the passion in his eyes... he really meant it. Although sometimes on the field it doesnt look like his playing for the carlton jumper i can assure you he is.

These are the reasons I think we will go forward:

- Brett thornton will become a premier kep position backman in the afl
- andrew walker should be played in the midfield and will become a star
- murphy is a star ( stuff thomas, he is playing in a winning side, easy to look good)
- kennedy looks the goods , would like to see him get more TOG
- simpson, fisher, bentick have improved dramatically
- waite will be a star if he can get his body right
- whitnall and fev are genuine stars already

These are the players we must get rid of at all costs:

justin davies, adrian deluca, trent sporn, troy longmuir, callum chambers, luke livingston, simon wiggins ( has hit some form though of late).

Give bryan a go at CHF and if he fails, get rid of him too

This is the start of a long long road back, but stick with the navy blues everyone, as you know things can only get sweeter....

Cant....resist....any...longer!!!

Apparently the boys were supposed to be out shopping with Dennis Pagan, but when he wasnt looking, they ducked off into a milk bar. The relevance of this, Pagan Lost the players!!!

I disagree. He struggled to find his feet the last couple of years in the midfield, except for his first game. He has improved dramtically this year and seems comfortable in defence.

Otherwise I agree entirely.

I think the "there" he was refering to was Adelaide airport - to get the hell out of the place.

I'm afraid you are talking to the "vocal majority" of "bitter and twisted".

I've seen 8 flags and venerable old George was responsible for 6 of those.

Yeah we will get good again - but like Moses and the promised land we may not see it.

Sorry mate, I actually agree with you and beleive in our kids to pull themselves out of this in a year or 2. I was just taking a cheap shot because I thought it was a laugh!!

In the past I've been one of the posters sticking by the coach and team. I beleive that a year or 2 in the gym and some mental maturity of the kind shown in the interview with Wiggo on the CFC site will do wonders for our list.

good to hear some of you still have faith

im the guy that doesnt miss a game
im the guy who sits there until the final siren blows when we are 10 goals behind
im the guy who buys a carlton member and afl membership and still buys raffle tickets for the club

not boasting, but we need more people like me around
we all love the blues so lets all be optimistic, lets all support the team which has given us so much joy in the past

back the coach in, back the players in...

If we have to wait 15 years from the last to the next flag, I can live with that - this time.

I think in 5 years the list will look incredibly different.

Back in round 10 2001 we had only 5 players of 22 that are in our current side - If you translate that for another 5 years we'll have;

Murph
Walker
JK
Blackwell
Lance (Captain)

and maybe Prenda  .

The other 17 will be either traded to us, or the young fellas come up through the system.

I've got doubts on Stevens attitude and leadership potential. But your commments are encouraging and I'm happy to be proven wrong on this.

I don't know if you're fully aware of the pain and frustration you've just entered into....

Great first post and like your optimism and comments -yes there are a few of us out here who like you are positive about the future - and Ive seen a lot more than 2 Premierships and we should be thankful for that 1987 and 1995 were outstanding and the next one will be even better
Keep supporting the Blues

well said mate...... we are rebuilding this list, we have so many players that would not get a game at any other club and thats due to a lack of poor list managment, poor recruiting and draft penalties.

so dont be blaiming the coach when he hasn't the cattle to work with. Im pretty sure the likes of Fev, Lance and Stevo realise the same we need young talent and in 3 years time watch us fly
