I thought you had to be over 18 to get stats?

or are we talking non-permanent stats here?

He is. He lost 8 inches especially for the role.

I bet the missus wasn't very happy...

You understand me well BV, always have.

My thinking WRT Pagan is along much the same line as dannyboy's, so yes in reality we are not that far apart.

I'm just putting it out there for people to discuss. With these things sometimes I just put it out there without any of my own commentary initially to let people make their own impressions, good or bad.

I know guys like you and Synbad will pick it apart and that is good, I respect that and like it when people actually go to the trouble of thinking through the good and bad points about a particular set of stats.

If I can prompt a BV one liner I am even happier. That cricket one was a ripper and gave me a fantastic laugh.

I think some observers take our by-play the wrong way sometimes. I really follow the Dilbert Principle on here, the only people I engage with seriously are those I respect.

Nice rearguard action - don't trip over your brown tongue on the way out.

Jarusa, what did the data look like for Sunday's game vs

1. This year's averages
2. Averages during the Pagan reign

Thankyou in advance.

Of the players who have pre-pagan experience on the list these are the players who have improved under the 'Pagan Factor'.

Figures used are player 'Ratings' taken from www.finalsiren.com, averged per game, similar to dreamteam points.

Waiting for the responses to this one.

If it's done on Dreamteam type points, it's then may be more a case of game time, hence more stats, especially during the modern game. Fev's improved, no doubt about that due to the faith Denis showed in him. Other's have improved because through natural progression, which you do from constantly playing, in spite of the coach. Other's have improved because they have actually been a able to get a reasonable regular game for Carlton (McGrath, French, McLaren). Easier to get a game at Carlton than other clubs. Scotland was good at Collingwood. Their supporters were bleeding losiing him at 35. He was in 2 GF teams but because of the strength of the Collingwood midfield he found it tough into, hence alot of bench time, or even reserves time. Lappin played brilliantly pre-Pagan, and I'd prefer that model, although, his first 2 years under Denis were great too making AA (should have been AA in 2001 as well). Improvement under this system may be due to playing loose at half back and racking up easy possessions, but I liked him pre-Pagan as a dangerous forward kicking lots of goals. I'd also preferred the younger version of Houilihan, although he didn't get as much game time. He's another who's been allowed to rack up cheap possessions playing in the backline in the last 2 years (before this year), hence the "improvement" under this system. Even Prenderghast played his best footy as a youngster in the 2001 with a good team around him (showed heaps of potential that year) but of course wasn't a "regular" until the second half of the year and played then alot off the bench.

Interesting to look at but no guide as there's alot of variables involved.

The great sayings about stats......"there's lies, damn lies and then there's statistics".
