We might now be happy to be rebuilding at Carlton - but Jarusa my dear fellow we are never happy about disgraceful umpiring decision. :P

 - nice one Agro.

Cheers to Blueroyal and other Wa Carlton folk/posters!

Wiggles, I'm sorry. I used to hide under my chair but now I keep my eyes open when you get the ball.

Simmo...onward and upward. With experience, wins and a little more support he's going to be even better.

I've started a SuperMop thread already for Russell, but he has some sweet style. Very impressed.

Murphy...he had a shit game didn't he?

Big Josh. Looking like the new foal just getting his legs. The next Carlton monster I hope.

Scotland killed them. Outright killed them. He was shooting Eagles down all day. Pity he didn't get the reward of a win.

Abadon had a shocker. Jimmae slayed him.

...My negative...Kouta. It was a dark day for our captain and it shouldn't have been. He was as poor and disinterested as evre a fallen champion has been. Really, he should do the honourable thing and quit now. He can't play footy anymore let alone captain us. And he knows it.

BUT, I'm feeling good about the Blues although the telly was within a bees-dick of being smashed to pieces yesterday afternoon. And the telly wasn't even mine.

I am so proud of these kids. They only deserve praise. They attacked the lines and the opposition. They were playing finals footy, and just ran out of legs as I expected (of course umpiring and Cox didn't help).

The most important thing for me is not this week or this season, it's the next and the one after that. It's more than hope, it's belief that we have a great bunch of kids led by Murphy.

We can play attacking footy, we have heaps of room for improvement and everybody showed something for the future.

Of the kids:

Murphy will lead this midfield to the finals...and there's plenty of improvement to come. Watch out.

Thornton was outstanding as a running backman. He looks to have that spring in his legs again.

Russell no doubt is an AFL player in the making. I thought the poise and attack were extremely good signs, and will be a legend in the future.

Kennedy has only played a handful of games, he's a big boy and athletic too with a lot of improvement to come, but can present mark and kick, and will learn more about the game with every outing this year, in readiness for 2007.

Betts is a unique small, who has the ability to turn on a coin, pick up the loose ball cleanly, and applies the type of pressure on backmen never seen before. Can only improve.

And that's only the kids, the teens, and then there's the other groups of early 20's and mid 20's.

This group collectively will be a force. And as of yesterday they are a force to be reckoned.

The future's so bright I need to wear sunglasses.

Go Blues.

Sad but true. He was little better than a passenger yesterday. He needs to go now while he still has some of his reputation intact as a great player. If this continues to the end of the season he will be remembered by many as a has been and not the great player he was in his prime.

Anyone else notice yesterday ( and in previous games)that it wsa Big Red talking to the players before the game and during breaks. Kouta just hung on the outside of the group. His body can't cope with the rigours of the game anymore and it appears to have lost all passion for the game and the club. On the surafce he looks like a man who has given up.

Time to take a good hard look at yourself Kouta and make the right decision by yourself and the club.

StKilda kids went through this... Brissy kids have too..

Some of the absolute rubbish that gets put on is just unbelievable....

Its a learning curve for young kids that dont have a captain or a leadership group to lead them.

They will with time and maturity be a galvanised to never be beaten or allow games to slip if they can help it.

Yesterday they couldnt help it...

who wouldnt have taken a 10 point loss prior to the game???

They did well..,and theyre just still learning...

Fair dinkum the way some people talk about the kids is like theyre going to the Christian Brothers College...

Synbad - interesting comment about St Kilda kids. I actually see a lot of comparisons between us now and Saints circa 2000/01 - lots of talented young kids that would often be competitive but struggle to get over the line - I think the famous Max Hudghton crying after the game was a game where the Saints were way in front in the 3rd quarter only to be overrun in the final quarter.

And a few years later they won 12 straight at the start of the season...

That is where I'd like to end the St Kilda comparison. As we are a club with proven track record in premierships and them a proven track record in self destruction.

After that game i thought about the Maxy Hudgton cry.
It was against the Bulldogs and the young Saints were beaten on the siren by a couple of points when they should have won the game.

Wish Kouta would cry or show something...

I think we have a nucleus and we need to keep adding and developing.. and hopefully we can really give a fla a tilt.
One step at a time.
I thought we took a tiny step forward yesterday and think we won something rather than lost the game.

Like i said.. if someone told you wed lose it under 2 goals before the game youd take it!!..

Heaps of positives to come out of that game for me.
Final score was not the be all or end all.

anyone happen to have foxtel and use the active option at half time - we did and it has footage of the carlton change room.

those who watched it will no exactly what im talking about.

a picture tells a 10000 words

kouta, sat in the corner by himself for nearly all the half time break, it was only until stevens went and sat next to him that he spoke to someone.

now - i didnt see every minute of the half time break, but that little passage of him being in the corner by himself, not saying a word to anyone, was all i needed to cast any doubt that i had about his captaincy.

ive had doubts and have hoped he has far more impact during games, but im afraid to finally admit he doesnt.

the time has come champ, bow out now a champion and dont go the same path as so many that have played one season too long.

let us remember you for your greatness and not the tripe that you are starting to deliver.

Let's hope someone is 'suggesting' he go out with dignity. In the last qtr even Clinton Grybas commented "Captain it's time to stand up"

BondiBlue,
Josh Kennedy looks like something special. People say they remind him of Earl Spalding - I think he will have more tricks then the 'Duke'

The only thing I worry about our young kids is DO we have the infrastructure or development team to nurse and develop them??
I don't think we have - for example what time and effort is put into Walker to improve his kicking and his inside work in a pack?? Still seems to be making the same mistakes. I'd hate to see these talented youngsters have weaknesses in their game because we didn't have the support network to help them early on in their career.
Look Pagan might be a super coach but him and Elaugh I think are not the right men to guide those young kids. It frustrates me that in our development phase we have those 2 in charge of the club.
Hopefully Pagan realises this at year end and ends his association with the blues.

lets hope mate

as he doesnt deserve to be thought of as any less than a champion, but at the moment, he is struggling and it isnt doing him any favours the way he is playing, and it isnt becuase he is injured or anything like that.

the game has gone past him, he isnt the first, and he certainly will not be the last, but want to see him go out gracefully, not as a footballer that has hung around 1 season too long.

You couldn't love how hard the boys tried.

Wiggins in the first qtr was electric
Murphy - the Mastercard of CFC - Priceless
Fev - One handed marks and a tap to the boot for a goal - not many can do that
Simmo - the road runner
Eddie - Greedy - wanted to keep the ball in our F50 as long as possible
Red - The General
T-Bird - The Lieutenant
French - Worked hard against the best in the business
Kennedy - took some lovely grabs and really is going to stamp himself on the F50
Russell - came off the bench and did something with the ball every time
Scotland - Braveheart - worked hard all day - less running around in a circle looking for a target
Stevo - the hunted became the hunter of Kerr
Walker - always getting better - when he gets bigger - look out
Houlihan - HIP & SHOULDER - need I say more

Watching Fox Footy and using the Active button I noted the following:

Kouta after the game was seeking attention for his wrist.
Fev - devasted [looked like he was crying after the game as he was coming off the ground - anyone notice that?]
Stevo [sitting] and Red[standing] talking with a couple of medicos

Great game because it proves we can play attacking footy, which generates less mistakes. Defensive footy equals, CLANGERS.

Lance would be the first ever player to win a brownlow that has to feel for an opponent before going for the ball..( the idea is to block him so he can have space to mark )..(sometimes misses the man too and allows him to mark it )

Cant see it happening myself...

Fev for Coleman medallist???.. keep it up Fev!!! :-D
