From the golden era in the early 80s, when I was a teenager and fell in love with the Blues seriously for the first time:

1. The Buzz - Peter Bosustow - I had the number 4 on my jumper before Sticks did!!!

2. Des English - to fight back from cancer the way he did was just un freakin believable

3. Kenny Hunter - getting knocked cold one minute and taking hangers the next

I loved all the Carlton players back then - even the lesser-lights like Phil Maylin, Curly Austin, Val Perovic - it's only in these dark desperate days that I look back and realise how lucky I was to "grow up" in such a golden era.

1. Johnston....leopards dont change their spots but Johnston did..went from a soft flanker to a hard win at all costs onballer who was at his best when the big games were on....a winner..

2. Jezza.....our Ablett..freakish skills and could play anywhere...legend of the game..

3. Kernahan...great leader and like Johnston a big game player, talented CHF who rates with the greats of the game....

Special mention to Geoff Southby....pleasure to watch him kick the ball and he was the ultimate professional full back who beat his opponents with sheer skill....no holding, scragging, sniping just pure ability in overcoming his man....and to see his career finished by a act of thuggery still makes me angry and bitter...

1-anthony koutoufides-best carlton player i've seen and his best was better than anyone else's best.
2-brendan fevola- everyone loves the fev esp. the way he's played this year with everything he does right from one-percenters to leading the coleman.
3-marc murphy-never have i been more sure that something good is about to happen when he has the ball in his hands, only played 12 games but is the most exciting thing i've seen at carlton-ever.

This thread got the better of me and made me drag out the '82 Grand Final against Richmond last night.
I implore all you younger TCers who've never really had a good look at the early 80s brilliiant Carlton side to get a hold of this game a sit back and marvel at the talent on display. What a powerhouse performance ....and in stark difference with what we see today.
I must say Richmond had a few gems as well at the time.
From the dazzling mosquito fleet to courageous & passionate skipper Fitzy to the strength & impact of Maclure, Perovic to the coolness & reliability of Doull English Harmes to the mercurial Bosustow and the brash youthfullness of Glascott. Simply brilliant to watch. 3 favourites is not enough db.

1. Wayne Johnston - A big 7 on the back of the duffle coat.

2. Bruce Doull - 11 on the right shoulder.

3. Alex Jesaulenko - 25 on the back of the first footy jumper (the one with the plastic CFC that disintegrated after too many washes).

Huge apologies to Hunter, Harmesy, Tiger, Diesel, Dean, Swan, Ashman, Andy McKay, Buzz, SOS, Sticks, Jimmy, Rhys and on and on and on...

This thread is bullshit - you can't leave out Ken Hunter but who do I drop to put him in? :?

If you're a St. Kilda fan you can easily pick your favourite three because there's only about three to pick from. How the hell is a Carlton supporter supposed to pick their favourite three????

Stupid thread danny.

Stupid column.

Stupid.

Stupid.

Stupid.

And I haven't even managed to fit in Earl, Fitzy, Harry, Jimmy, Tommy, Sellars, Southby, Wallsy, FOS, Syd, Perc, Hicky and on and on and on...

Stupid thread danny.

Stupid column.

Stupid.

Stupid.

Stupid.

It is hard to pick only three.

However

Not in order of merit:

Kenny Hunter
Bruce Duoll
The Dominator

In the 2000's

Andrew McKay
SOS
Brett Ratten

Hopefully on the 2010's

Marc Murphy
Andrew Walker
Josh Kennedy

1. Kenny Hunter (was robbed in 82 of a norm smith medal due to .....)
2. Wayne Johnston (not many players can step up to finals like the dominator)
3. Steven Kernahan (leader of the highest order)
