IIRC, didn't one club (perhaps the Doggies or Dees, but not sure) have money problems, and they weren't going to pick up a rookie? It got out to the media and somebody organised the money and they picked someone up.

If we aren't promoting simply because of financial reasons, I would hope that the board would approach a few people and see if they can get the $ for the promotion.

I'm pretty sure PuntRoadEnd organised some dollars for the tigers to pick a rookie from the rookie draft. Don't think it was for promotion to the senior list.
Maybe some matchpayment savings from Murphs absence might free up a bit for a rookie promotion.

That's probably what I was thnking of Budzy, ta.

Problem is that we are so behind financially that I reckon any money they can save to reduce a large deficit this year will be saved rather than spent. Especially if the club is looking down the barrel of a $1.5mil loss, which seems to be the figure at the moment.

The Dees had to pass around the hat to promote Aaron Davey didn't they, I remember having a giggle at the time, but thats where we are probably at now

yep, getting a bloke who had wasn't good enough at the swans for their premiership post knee-reco instead of a young kid, great stuff...pagan's recruiting smacks of desperation.
