At the beginning of this year I had a bet with a Scum supporting mate.

"I reckon that the next side to win the wooden spoon after Carlton will be Essendon*".

My reasoning behind this bet was the following:

1. Essendon*'s best players are aging and will be injury prone because of it.
2. Their 2001 draft picks are mirroring the form of our 2000 draft picks.
3. Any side picking up Carlton rejects as a solution to their problems must be out of their freakin' minds.

So I've got $20.00 riding on this game. But it's not the money, it's the fact that I'll be able to not only get the cash but I'll get to rub his nose in it.

GO THE MIGHTY BLUES

Hope we win just for our supporters sake, we have some dumb dumb supporters, people that go to games just to bag our players. We have to support them, obviously mistakes will be made but thats footy and after all the success we have had in the past no one has the right to bag Carlton no matter how bad they go. Untill the get 16 spoons to match 16 flags they have always done the supporters proud.

@#$%&! Campo. I couldn't care less about him.

I want to see our kids competing & working together. If only Harts had another 2 games match fitness in him. Would love to see him out there against the bombers giving it to Lucas & co.

Agree, we've gotta win this week, and win easily.

Sheedy thinks he can live in the '90s and buy quality player via a trade -he's kidding himself. No-one is going to give up a quality pick or player without a rock solid guarantee not to lose on the deal.

$100m won't help them where their going

Ok, I've may have the rose coloured glasses on BUT when the foox footy panel were wasting tiome (on the interactive broadcast, waiting for the coaches conference, Grybas asked Carey who he would rather coach, Carlton or Essendon*. CArey said neither ...and quickly noted because he doesbn't want to coach.

Then Grybas said, well "I meant who do you think has the better lsit to go forwartd with" and Carey said that ssendon had the better lsit to wok on..................?????

Am I missing something? Now the Fox panel aren't exactly Einsteins but Carey would have a reasonable knowledge of who we have at MCLP and a fair knowledge of who's at Windy Hill.

I would be thinking we need about 3 players to be a competitive side, where they will be looking for ay laest 3 for about 3 years as some of their "older" shall we say "list hangers on" move inevitably off....Ah well..we'll get a good look at them this week...

BTW..couldn't make it to the game as the little guy was sick and it was the firts time I've looked at the FFinteractive stuff for a Blues game...Stats info was good!...seeing the press conference was great....shame we din't win

I care about Campo. If he doesn't get a belting in an Essendon* jumper on Saturday I'll be devastated.

If Fisher and Kennedy can continue on and Russell gets back I can see us cleaning the Bombers up. Blackers>Monfries. Fev should account for Fletcher. Simmo to show the way.

Beware Courtney Johns. If he gets back, Essendon* might go on to win the grand final.

You're $20 is safe. Blues by 35.

(Anyone know if Waite is a chance?)

I tend to agree with Carey, but only because of Courtney Johns

And it's Heritage round, isn't it? We used to beat them in the 80s...

We actually went from 1981-1985 without beating Essendon*. Our success rate would be much higher in both the 90's and 00's.

We didn't actually. The Bombers record against us in the 80's was near perfect. Sheedy used to save his real hate and smugness for Carlton...smug, hateful bastard he is.

We've been better against them in recent times, strangely when we have been at our lowest ebb. Also strange, is that it reflects the Dons imposing themselves under Sheedy in the 80s. They constantly beat us in crucial and tight games even when we had great sides. Essendon* exorsising the Blues was a platform for their sustained success over the last 25 years, (albeit 2006 is a bit of a SHOCKER). Hopefully our new dawn is also near, with the Dons and Sheedy a smudge on our heels.

That's why beating Essendon* is so much fun, because it HURTS Sheedy like knives.

Navy blue knives!
