All right, own up those on this thread that have just come back from an extended Friday lunch.........with more than a few beers swirling in your stomach. If you have, you lucky bastards!

To add to the intrigue of this thread, did you know the human head weighs eight pounds?

I so want to be one of the those lucky bastards! Instead I am lurking on the TC site looking for some form of stimulation that's not forthcoming.

Not an unreasonable point we are = we're is making. There is a difference between measured criticism and vitriolic hatred. The sort of criticisms of Whit are probably appropriate for Fev who is in great form and is a super talent but has spent a fair portion of his 8 years on the list bludging and last week bludged on his team mates at times to the point where Walker had to instruct him on his repsonsibilities. Huge talent doesn't excuse you from team responsibilities. Fev has improved his 1%s but still has a long way to go. We shouldn't be praising him everytime he does a team thing because we are surprised, we should just expect it, as we should from Whit. Maybe we all need to be a bit fairer in how we judge the players rather than a does no wrong/ does no right attitude.

Anyone read RiverRat on CSC? He seems to go to most training and Ants games and gives an intelligent and measured view of things we sometimes miss here.

I think the difference between Fev and Lance is Fev is peaking and Lance is in free fall.

Not just that but Fev is an elite footballer who is just coming into his own .

Im not sure what river rat has to say but i can assure you people like BV and myself have seen more of training than most people over the last few years...

Were in a dire situation and we cant afford a Lance because Lance cant play an elite role . He just isnt a front liner.
Fev is!!!

Now we need all hands on deck with an eye to the future.

Lance cant offer us that.... he will be washed up very soon. already he has put 5 ish kilos and his form has started dropping away.
He cant wont handle the dome surface.. his body cant handle a whole season at its peak... and before you know it he will be gone...just as we need every little bit to help the kids like Marc Murphy to a premiership.

Thats just the stark reality of where we are at and what we need to do to get back up.

Its been 5 years and were treading water...
We need to be more radical than safe.

Lance should be trade meat and Fevola shouldnt ..!!!...

Lance has little to offer a club in our situation.

sure i know Fev is a headcase and his attitude isnt great... but geez he puts bums on seats doesnt he???... he inspires.. he influences a game .. he enthuses.. he crunches and he kicks freaky goals on 2 or 3 defenders.

What does Lance do???

Youre comparing apples with bananas.

I swear I go to different games than you do Synbad... or maybe it's just we look at the game from different perspectives - one looking for positives and the other far more focused on negatives.

Here's a bloke who's playing his 200th game for the club on the weekend - 200 games would normally earn you respect and admiration of supporters... yet Lance still cops it in the neck on this site in a year that's probably been his best for the club.

I really don't know what Lance has ever done to you, but I really hope that one day Lance gets to answer you face to face... and more than anything I'd love him to be wearing a medalion (brownlow or premiership) around his neck when he's doing it.

Congratulations Lance haters - this week between you and Lance, you'll have played 200 games for the greatest club in the world...

You are certainly right about that, but I still think Whitnall has a bit to offer. he is a loose defender in a side that regularly gets belted in the middle which means that any half decent opposition forward will get their share of the ball. Whitnall at least gives us some creativity from defence and he is close to the best user of the ball, he virtually never fumbles and for someone who is slow he virtually never gets caught with the ball. Also he runs a long way in a game for a guy who is supposed to be half fit. He can be exploited no doubt but that is partly because we have such a shocking side. When we get a midfield hopefully over the next few years then we may have Walker, Bower and Setanta as very attacking running options from defence and Whitnall won't be as exploitable. He gets the ball a lot and uses it well and in order to do that he takes risks which don't always come off. I haven't been in either the trade Fev or trade Whit camp. And having got Whitnall on a contract now, they won't trade him. Trying to unload contracted players means you are going to lose in most deals. Maybe Whitnall will be gone as a player in 08 and 09 or maybe in a much better side he will be better value. Perhaps as the side develops he will be a Lynch type up forward.

I think he has been good this year in a defence that is always under enormous pressure. Our main failing is that we have few 100-200 24-28 year olds, which is because of our previous drafting which we all know. I'm looking at 09-10 for decent years when Whitnall will still be slow and will still have the same ball handling skills he has now. I think he has a role

Good post Wolfister.

At then end of 2004/05 I wanted Lance traded but now admit I was wrong. He has been very good this year and should be our next captain.

With picks #1, #17 and #19 in this years draft to add to our impressive list of emerging youngsters I think we will be a force again in 2008 and beyond.

Our recruiting since 2002 has been very good, particularly with our later/rookie picks such as Simpson, Fisher, Bentick, Betts and the O'Hailpins. I believe that Edwards, Jackson, Raso and Flint are all showing promise as well.

You are probably in the cheersquad and you probably wear badges ... and youre right i dont sit there watching Lance 'flogging' away...so no we arent watching the same thing Wolfister..

Remember the Seinfeld episode when George walked into a corporation and pretended he was starting work... they gave him an office... and they gave him the Pinsky file... George went to 'work' every day and one day they checked to see what George had done with the Pinsky file and on seeing he had done @#$%&! all.. they sacked George.... from a job he never had.... George had pretended and acted the job... till it caught up with him....

Thats Lance...each week Lance puts on his jumper and goes to 'work' on the Pinksy file....
