DIDAK IN CLEAR
Monday, August 28th, 2006 at 4:58 pmCOLLINGWOOD is relieved tonight after Alan Didak’s charge was withdrawn by the match review panel.

Didak, who many feared would miss the Pies first final, was declared in the clear moments ago.

“Despite the high contact, Didak’s action was viewed as a legitimate attempt to bump. Therefore, the contact to the head was considered accidental and the action was not considered to be a reportable offence,â€

You have just qualified to be on the match review panel with that statement. Please take your seat.

Problem with that DUC, is that at least with a mass burning, everyone gets to join in, whereas with euthanasia, it's a bit more "one-on-one"

Perhaps, but the explanation sucked. Plenty of players have been rubbed out for accidental high contact.

should have got at least one week. was reckless and high and he was hit with the elbow with enough force to knock scotland out and result in a suspected broken nose.

sends out the wrong message about just what protection the head, and in this case face, are granted. the incident was also the catalyst for a melee and lead to the game spiralling out of control. surely that has to be taken into account.

disappointing ruling considering some of the decsions in the past.

How so, both were just bumps were they not?

I realise I'm being a little facetious, comparing the two incidents … but if Didak's "bump" has been cleared then we can only conclude from that decision that contact to the head are now legal so long as it's just a "bump".

It's crap.

Let's go a bit easy on Goldspink okay. Remember what the politburo did to the last fan forum that had a red hot go at Goldy?! ;)

i dont know about you all.. but i think it is an absolute disgrace that alan didak was cleared..
whether it was deliberate or not.. lets face it he is a d@#$ h@#$.. and caused a lot of uproar for what was to be a great win to carlton..
im guessing eddie maguire had something to say about why didak shouldnt be on the tribunal and i guess it workd

I reckon the bump was fair but I have no doubt that if Fevola did it they would have thrown the book at him. Same with Pickett, ther is no doubt the tribunal are bias for and against different players. I reckon Hird could get away with stabbing someone on the field.
