If Smorgan delivers us that extra PP he can stay on as president.

I dont have a solid idea in regards to a definitive collective vehicle we could use to pressure the gestapo but just to see some collective passion would be nice

Like what?

Why not send a clear and concise TC statement -- signed by members of the TC boards -- sent to the club stating that we fully endorse the action of seeking the reinstatement of our 2002 Priority Pick?

Is that what you were thinking..?

I'd wait for confirmation that they are proceeding with it first.

I dont think anyone could have predicted how bad we were and how long it would take for us to turn things around back then.

4 or 5 years on.. EVERYBODY knows... and i think its the right time for the club to come out and do something about it.

Weve served our time...and it will still take another couple of years..

I don't care whatever anybody has to say regarding the club taking on The AFL Commission to fight what is righfully ours and seek justice.

We have been dealt with harshly, servin penalty after penalty without precedence in any of the footy codes in Australia.

If the fall out is bad publicity in the short term, then that's not change from the present. Negative publicity is not going to change whilst we're floundering down the bottom, and whilst the AFL have dealt an unfair, unjust heavy blow to the club that makes our life miserable and difficult to recover...we can't just sit there and cop blow after blow.

This is all wrong. First exclusion from the Draft for 2 years (the lifeblood of every footy club), then the $1M fine (food for our subsistence), then the PP exclusion in 2002 (equalisation policy), and finally changing the PP rules for 2006.

How do you think I feel? Worse than I did on Black Friday. I didn't realise that we were going to be in this state 4 years on, and I didn't realise at the time that an AFL ally in Collins was going let the AFL have their way with us. He let it happen as far as I'm concerned...now he's gone, and we're left holding the baby, and still in debt to the banks and to the AFL.

How do you think I feel? I have just had my lifeblood taken from me, I can't put food on the table, I've had my rights taken away from me, I'm down, I'm in debt and down for the count and bleeding, I get hit with more bills and my debt is mounting, seemingly insurmountable, I'm begging, I'm pleading and just when I can see some light, that is taken away from me, by a bully; a real big bad one. What do I do? I have nothing to lose. I will fight back and fight for what is rightfully mine, I will stand up to the bully, and I will challenge him.

This is the real Fightback when you're having a Fightback. I have the Will, now just give me strength to see this through.

... but they better go through with it... talking about it is one thing... but we need to make sure they follow it through.

The loss of those picks and especially that priority pick has had catastrophic fallout to this football organisation and its lingering effects are still being felt.

They better go through with it. Cheers Synbad.

I feel the ways AGRO puts it.

We will only earn respect for fighting our way out of this sentence, not just sitting there as the AFL's punching bag...".and they'll know that they've been playing, against thae famous old dark blues".

We're Carlton F(U(&^&* the rest!!!

Ryan2000, good on you for firing up against these pricks! Just out of interest, how long did it take you to get offered full membership? Im still waiting for mine and am curious. But the gall of the AFL to request extra dollars from you is extraordinary. Just wacking an "administration" label to it doesn't mean much!!! Can you believe these c#^ts? They have comprmised our very game. Driven a powerful club to the point of submission just for the sake of personal gratification and to fulfil some sense of vendetta and they want to fleece hard working people like me and you for extra dollars for no proper reason! Go and get f#^ked!!!

These f#^kers are so intoxicated on their own sense of self-worth and importance that they really need to be taught a lesson. This game isn't a hobby of theirs that they can do whatever they want with it but a game of the people that has been built over 100 years by great clubs like Carlton and the many champions that have represented it and the staunch support of passionate Carltonians like me and you. I just wish we had some strong people with some serious backbone representing our club to be able to follow through with this stoush through and stand up for what is Carlton and do right.

The last few years has aroused my passions as a Carlton supporter like never before but has left me so disillusioned with this sport that it is hard to justify following it. The AFL are treating the game and its supporters with sheer contempt. It makes me sick. And this latest PP scam is just another chapter...

Thank you MarciBlue - my sentiments exactly.

And BlueVain - I am very mature actually :P . (you just dont watch "The Sketch Show" )

But I get really pissed off with the "roll over play dead" and "drop our trousers" mentality that is pervading our supporter base, you dont fight hard enough now you will end up like Fitzroy, but as I said elsewhere, not to worry Melbourne Victory wear Navy Blue.

4 years ago we had the chance to fight the penalties but the majority of our members rolled over and played dead when they voted out the only man who had the balls to fight the penalty and voted in a man who was in the AFL's pocket. This issue was dead and buried years ago, it's too late now the majority of our members made our bed and now we have to lie in it.

I still maintain we can argue had any other club that year been found guilty they would have lost say picks 4,20,36 for example. So how can we be stripped a priority pick if another club who had EXACTLY THE SAME breaches wouldn't have lost it as well?

I think this is our best argument, we have to get some balls and go through the courts, the AFL aren't going to give it to us.

All for getting fired up!! Agree we should wait until the unsubstantiated message board rumours turn into something though!

Time for the more eloquent letter writers to put a letter together and send to the bozos in the media that we are not going to take it lying down anymore. Bondiblue wrote something a few pages ago that was pretty good.

No offence but you guys are dreaming. We're on the AFL's life support, we can't even sack our coach without their approval. You think we're gonna take them on now? We won't even change their mind on the priority pick for this year let alone the one we lost years ago. They were pissed they forgot to ban us for the priority in 03.

Politically, this IS the best time to challenge the AFL for the extra pick from '02.

Think about it. We have:

1) The AFL's cash (the $1.5mil loan) - thanks very much
2) The AFL's assistance to redevelop MC Labour Park
3) The AFL's commitment to help with ongoing costs for running the ground for the next 3 years
4) Ongoing AFL support in terms of cash over and above the base payment to all clubs

We are not likely to get anything more from the AFL in the next 3 years, so all our 'being a good boy' attitude over the past 5 years has paid dividends. Now that those commitments are in place, it's an ideal time to fight for the pick.

I'll enjoy the irony if we end up taking the AFL to court and use their own cash (in the form of the interest free loan) to fund it :)

By the way, I'm not crediting the board with great timing, I just reckon it's turned out this way.

I must admit I'm pessimistic too.

I just cannot see it happening.

Don't get me wrong, I'll be dancing in the streets if it comes off, but it seems unlikely....

We will probably hear more next week.

But assumingt we could come up with some kind of negotiated settlement with the AFL.

Do you reckon if we played 2 games in the Canberra void that North left behind them.. per year for 3 years.. and were given a million a year... would that be acceptable along with the lost priority pick?

Id be interested to know what you all think.

Personally i would do it...

Yes. I would do it. I would do it separate to the PP decision.
