You're going to kill him?

What he really means is he is going to kill Umpire Russo, Demetrispew and all members of the Hitler Youth. :P

What a joke.

We know Diesel was robbed in 1993. But that's the Brownlow.

If anything comes of this, just wait and see Tony Evans & the Eagles take Diesel to court of the 4 points Diesel cost them in 1996 claiming 'the goal'.

Nothing will come of this.

Diesel is making us look like whinging schoolgirls.

Bob Skilton goes by the sobriquet "Triple Brownlow Medalist Bob Skilton"

Greg Williams is forever known in my household as:

"Moral Triple Brownlow Medalist Greg Williams"

The following are known as "Give it back"

- Brad Hardie
- Tony Libratore
- Gavin Wanganeen
- Shane Woewoedin.

comparing Williams to Doully in some sort of Solomn's court is frogshit of the most ridiculous

Greg was slow, small and unwanted yet pushed himself, egging out every vestige of excellence he could. What, you think that kind of desire, that kind of single-mindedness suddenly evaporates when you retire?

Couldn't give a toss if he gets his brownlow or not but I think I'll refrain from judging him. Besides 3 brownlows is the top of the @#$%&! mountain and Greg was one to climb mountains wasn't he.

Instead I'll just remember that game against Melbourne (and many many others) and think '@#$%&! the guy was a ripper'.

I think the article paints his view in a bad light, the way it was written isn't great. It should have focussed on how umpires discuss votes after games and the procedure involved with one umpire bullying another one. Each game should be voted on its merits - & not over a personal issue with a player.

If an umpire can hate a player so much he shouldn't be able to umpire that team.

Having said that talk of seeking legal advice is extremely stupid.

Williams might have a point and deserved the brownlow that year but I wouldnt be chasing it now....we dont need more begging and whinging attached to the Carlton Football club....at best it might get the system changed and the voting rights taken away from umpires.
I dont see the AFL handing him a medal based on the after thoughts of an ex umpire..

I was peeved that Wankaneen took home Charlie that night and not the Diesel.

However, I built a bridge about 13 years ago.

Let it go Diesel.

Next thing we will have Colliwobbles and Eddie Everywhere producing "never before seen footage" proving that the ball Wayne Harmes tapped back to Sheldon was in fact out of bounds. They going to give them the premiership??

Can we have a couple of extra premierships too for the years we missed when Diesel was at the Swans, via Carlton and Geelong? I mean we got him back in the end, so surely Jarusa can work out a graph to see if we would have won an extra flag with Diesel at Carlton over his whole career.

Good idea I reckon.

The umpires are spiteful and shouldn't be awarding the best and fairest player. They should be concentrating on umpiring which they are struggling at.

Yeah. It should be awarded by journalists, who are not spiteful........

Yeep once again that's exactly what I said.

We compare players all the time. It's half the point of this place. We compare them for pace, attitude and skill so why not compare the way they conduct themselves in public during and after their careers?

Doull epitomises most of what I appreciate in great sportspeople. Diesel's latest whinge epitomises the self-centred crap that's [REDACTED] over our club in the last few years.

Nope. When it comes to the way he conducts himself I don't expect any more from Diesel than he's given. I've learnt not to expect very much from him in that respect.

If Greg Williams thinks that an additional Brownlow medal's somehow going to miraculously put him on the same plane as Bob Skilton he's got no idea. Skilton is loved by the football community as much for the person that he is as his three medals. Give me a Greg Williams with Bobby Skilton's grace and manners over a surly, disgruntled prick with three medals any day.

Yep - I'll remember all those games too and when he can stop his petulant poor little me routine in the media hopefully I'll be able to remember those alone.

Greg Williams is close to the best footballer I've ever seen but that has absolutely nothing to do with any of this.

It has everything to do with it. The very things that made him such a great footballer are the same things people hang shit on him for now.

Bruce Doull ran a newsagency out Ivanhoe for many years after his football career was over - was always a gentlemen.

That's a reason not an excuse. You seem to want us to look at the good bits and ignore the bad. It's doing that that got us to this point.

Right at a time when our club is struggling to keep it's head above water Greg Williams, a former player recently stepped down from the board of the Carlton Football Club is bitching about the personal glory he feels he missed out on.

There is no excuse for dropping this in the media at a time when the club is in dire need of help. All it does is reinforce the correct current perception that our club built a culture that was all about the individual and not the team.

Maybe I'm being selfish, but at a time when our club is being put through the wringer, I'd prefer to not have the halo effect of a whinging past player adding to our misery.

Surely every player in the top category has an axe to grind about whether he should've received votes in a particular match; and I'd think players such as Leigh Matthews should feel especially hard done by. Does Williams think he is unique in getting snubbed by the umpiring fraternity? If so, he is seriously deluded.

As Andre Agassi said of Yevgeny Kafelnikov, when the Russian complained about women tennis players getting the same prizemoney as men, Greg Williams should go out and buy himself some perspective.
