If there's a Pay-by-the-month option, I may even consider upgrading my membership, even though I wouldn't get any benefit from it, the Club would.

I'll have to see the brochure.

Let's look at this logically. I don't currently have a job, have one small child and maybe ano..., I managed to get to only 1 game this year and next year won't be any better, the Club is a rabble both on and off the field and we don't seem to be able to hold onto the few "reasonable" players we have.

Fortunately for the Club, logic doesn't come into it. Yeah, I'll sign up again next year!

Where have I said we don't need change? There will be new board members soon.

I hope and suspect so, but no news yet.

Chicken and the Egg argument. If the club wasn't so inept, we would look more respectable.

True :-D

Bit rich to blame people who have had to put up with an incompetent board for the last 5 years.

Jarusa wrote:
Of course there are things wrong with the club, but fix them in the background.

Disagree.... The club should be making the changes, and selling its vision in clear view of the members and supporters.

Jarusa wrote:
IMO the supporters this year have done just as much to damage the brand of the club as the actions of club admin and football department.

Its a spiralling maelstrom of ineptitude at board level as well as public reaction from supporters and members. However, many supporters are just fed up with the lack of vision from the club. Show us a road map, and you will shut up most people.

Jarusa wrote:
It's not you either Synbad, you always make sure to distinguish between the board/coach whatever and the club.

However, lots of people do not make this distinction and put all the negative emotions onto the club itself rather than the people running it.

How many times has someone typed 'Carlton is a rabble'???

That's just a rubbish way to put things for those that say it and everyone that does it is costing us memberships. Those that do it should look in the mirror and take responsibility for your own actions as not only a Carlton supporter but a member of the Carlton supporting community.

I think your splitting hairs here... The club is made up primarily of the board and the football department, and both have been a rabble. I don't think, apart from a few key players, that most people mean harm against the playing group.

TC is a cesspool where anyone who even attempts to say something positive about the club gets shot down.

That is not healthy for the club.

The supporters blame everyone except themselves.

It was the supporters who FAILED to vote in three new board members earlier this year.

I voted for three changes including turfing Sticks.

Who did all the whingers here vote for?

As a group of supporters we have been crap, more willing to trash the brand than actually get off our arses and do something positive for the club.

I was unable to vote but a family member voted for the three changes

Didn't Clarke lose by ~7 votes?

Voted for the changes and voted for both Lee and Clark but also voted for Sticks.

While I agree that this place is too negative for my liking, we'll have to agree to disagree on your other points. The blame falls with the board first and foremost.

As a group of supporters we are waiting for some leadership, either from the incumbants or any challenges.

I could get off my arse and put my name down for the board, but A: I wont get votes and B: I don't have many business contacts.

We need someone (or a group of people) with TRUE leadership in order for the supporters/members to be more positive about things.

Thats what Carlton is crying out for.

The board are put there by the members.

I was at the AGM and even though it was fiery and the supporters seemed really pissed off only 1 out of 3 new board members were voted on.

That seemed crazy to me. Pissed off supporters too gutless to vote in real change.

The membership have to take some responsibilities for their actions as well. I'm not saying the supporters are the main blame, I'm saying the members get off Scott free when they deserve criticism as well.

Most of us on here are pretty active in our support. Most members out in the general public probably arent. I had to ring the club to get a voting form faxed to me, plenty of members probably didnt bother/know to do that.

I also seem to remember something about letting the president have your proxy as an option if you didnt know/care. If that was an option then there goes the independence and democracy in the system. For every interested and informed voter willing to make a rational educated choice there is probably 10 members that either dont vote at all (just go to the footy) or else proxy their vote to the incumbent president to keep his supporters (or self) in office.

Unless thereb is a real ground swell of support and lots of motivated fans get on board, then the old power blocks of voters can probably keep their team in office. I reckon this ground swell was what got Greg Lee in last time.

The internet as a vehicle for talking about a footy team tends to attract a negative element. Because Carlton has been losing as much as it has people take the easy option and complain. It seriously is the easy option though, and you can't blame people for taking the easy option regarding a hobby. And that's all it is, a hobby.

Jars, the board and its employees are the Carlton Football Club, they are the face, they are the decision makers, they have control or supposed to have control, blame cannot be levelled at supporters at all.

Supporters will drop off because of all the negative publicity, they will drop off because they don't like decisions that have been made, they will not drop off because charlie brown on TC has a winge about the club. If a supporter did drop of because of opinions on this forum then they should look at themselves and work on standing up for their own principles instead of being a sheep.

PS: I didn't vote this board in, I voted for Elliot :-D

YES.

Have to stick with your team through the good times AND THE BAD TIMES!!!!!

If the Board spills and a new coach is appointed and we draft well then I reckon we may even increase our membership just like the Tigers did with Tery Wallace.

Of course Ill sign up, as will my wife , two kids, and anybody else I can convince, goad or embarass into signing. WITHOUT QUESTION!
Anybody who wont renew their membership, for WHATEVER reason they can come up with, should just go and support another club.
We may not like a lot of things about the club at the moment, but it desperately needs everyone of us to stick together and help pull us thru this sh!te.
I can imagine the day of our next premiership win when we can stand up and proudly show the many years, including the bad , that we have stuck with our club. Who are the 12%, hang your heads in shame!!!

Will I sign up again next year? - ABSOFARKENLUTLEY 8)

I love the fact that my hard earned goes directly to my club.

I first signed up in 1996 and haven't looked back since.
