Surely not insisting on reading the entire Watts report is a fundamental breach of your responsibilities as a board member. And attempting not to provide the full report is a fundamental breach of your responsibilities as a CEO.

Was the Watts Report available to all members of the Board - or was it only available to the President and CEO, and if it was only available to the President and CEO under whose instructions was it only available to the President and CEO. If this instruction came from the AFL this will be another clear example of how much the money we have received from the AFL has screwed the independence of the Carlton Football CLub.

The sooner we are in a position to tell them to stick their money the better.

Because the very sight and sound of "Demetrispew" basically lying to the media when he says the AFL have no say in the running of the Carlton Football CLub makes me want to vomit.

I will use the bucket after you Agro. I am bereft as to how a Director can not want to have full and factual accounts. As for wanting Diggins gone, which I do, it should not be based on the fact that she sought out a full and unfiltered report.

Factions within a board come down to a lack of strength by the chairman. A good chairman would be able to pull all of the people on the board in one direction for the betterment of the organisation. Obviously, at board level, there is going to be differences of opinion. That happens on all boards. However, the chairman must be of strong character and have the respect of all the board members. One way to do this is to work bloody hard.

I have, until recently, been a board member of a company as well - being chairman for 5 years. There was a certain amount of disharmony and distrust when I came in, but there wasn't when I left. In fact, they were all sad to see me go (sob, sob, I know). The point is that all of the other directors respected me for how I worked with each of them and in turn the organisation.

It is not apparent that Smorgon has this ability.

The article to me looks to be an effort to make Diggins look competent. It is almost as if she has sided with Caro. Last week's article was the same... Valmorbida and Diggins were in trouble with Smorgon for asking questions of the Board. Caro seems to be doing her best to side with Valmorbida and Diggins, and at the same time is working to make Smorgon, Sticks and Malouf look incompetent.

Where this leaves the whole state of play with possible board fall-out is beyond me however.

By the way Mordan - you made the reasonable point the other day that people around here should declare their stance in the event of a challenge. I'm going to join Siegfiried and declare right now that I am totally opposed to the re-election of Sticks.

I too think that it is time for Kernahan to have a non boardroom role in the club.

I remember when we had to get Sticks onto the board to get him out of the football department. Now people, and I'm one of them, want him off the board. I'm not sure where that leaves us to put him. Maybe he can work reception.

Not a great voice for reception.

Perhaps he could put out the placemats before dinner.

Watching him trying to work out which side up they go could be good sport.

Last AGM i recall 100 people approx in attendance and around 500 proxy votes that came in for the elections and constitution amendments. Of those at the AGM it was very pro Kernahan, It would of been a brave person to stand up against him. The USC was very vocal towards expressing their anger at the lack of direction and business plan and no answers were provided from Collins and Malouf. I can't remember what the USC view of Sticks was at the time, but if Sticks is to go it would be a real challenge to oust him with the support he had that night.

or he could simply do the right thing and step away from any role, executuve or non-executive. If all the focus is on the so called modern game then a modern approach to administration means every position must be based on merit and not reputation or past service.

BUT I will always crawl over broken glass to help the great man if it was needed personally or professionally (in other ventures of course)

I keep getting an image of Caroline Wilson snooping around Diggins art gallery, Axel Foley style.

Next, she'll be breaking into a warehouse looking for coffee grounds... or was it bearer bonds?

Nice one knackers.

We can also give Denis a new Paganism:

"Gee, it's really difficult to get the team up to speed when you've got a banana in the tailpipe".

I didn't vote for Sticks at the last election as he just didn't really inspire me as being one that was right for the job.
