I watched the fifth quarter after the match tonight and I felt like putting my foot through the televsion when they crossed to Tim Lane after the match at the Telstra Dome.
His constant attack on Fevola was really shitting me and quite frankly im fed up with all this negativity towards Brendan, I really feel sorry for the guy.
He mentioned Fevola as "not even a 2.5 goal per game key forward" and also said he was at "the crossroads". Dead set, what an absolute wanker. There was all this talk a fortnight ago about Whitnall being at the crossroads, and my my how the tables have turned, hes had 2 good games in a row, suddenly its Fevola at the crossroads. Some of the things he mentioned include:
"Fevola not even a 2.5 goals per game key forward"
- First of all, many supporters, including myself, thought of Fev as a dud in his first few seasons. Of course, this was thought of by the coaching panel also at the time, with the well publicised story of Fev having his ass saved by Denis.
- In that regard, you should really look at Fevola's performances from 2003 onwards, as that is what his current projected market value is based upon. In both seasons hes kicked more than 60 goals in a crap side(We over achieved last year).
- Also, watching Fev on many occassions, he is a smart player and often his efforts on the ground and his one percenters produce good results
Also mentioned that Fevola was at the crossroads and his efforts tonight were below par.
- You are commentating at the game, you must be watching it and paying attention closer to it than any other supporter.
- Fevola looked ready to go on a rampage in the 1st quarter with teo goals and fantastic pressure applied to the Brisbane defence. He chased his ass off, producing a brilliant tackle which earnt him a free kick.
- He went for a soccer off the ground and that was it, he aggrevated his groin injury, it was evident I knew right away he was [REDACTED].
- He was half fit and still played on, still made a contest, and still chased.
- He appeared to be in tears on numerous occassions, showing us that he has the heart to play.
I cannot understand why sooooooooo many people headhunt Fev, he has talent, we have seen that on numerous occassions. Calls to trade him, hes crap blah blah blah. Even when he plays "crap", he still manages 2-3 goals a game playing for the worst side in the league. When the side plays half decent, usually hell kick 4 or 5, and when the team fires, he can kick upto 8 in a game.
Ask yourselves, if we were as good as West Coast, and had a midfield of Judd, Cousins, Fletcher, Kerr and the like, a midfield who could hit targets, would Fev be pushing for 80 goals + a season, possibly 90 or even 100 on his way to a Coleman medal.
It is not his fault when you have players that lack peripheral vision, players who kick to Fev and Whtinall when they are outnumbered 3 to 1, players who couldnt hit the side of a barn, players who deliver to the shins of a leading Fev and not his chest.
My point being, people like Tim Lane and others who jump on the Fev bandwagon when he kicks a bag fail to realise that his full abilities will not be seen on a consistent basis in a team like the current playing list of the Blues.
The equations are simple:
- A top 4 Carlton side = Fevola a superstar
- A dud side like we are now = Fevola restricted, however averages 3 goals a match still, 60 in a season
So Tim Lame(not a typo), you are a prick for headhunting Fev and labelling him at the crossroads
