I'm sure the 4 people that read the Australian probably skimmed this article anyway.

He also said the then board had refused to co-operate .

That's crap, the incoming board came clean to the AFL and gave them the information they wanted to know.Yet they still hit the club with a tonne of bricks even though we had co-operated with Demetriou in his underground bunker.

I found this interesting tidbit on Essendon*'s rorting and loved how it mentions the years they cheated:http://bombersfc.com.au/default.asp?pg=news&spg=display&articleid=87504

Quote:
In 1999, the Bombers were found guilty of salary cap offences during the 1992, 1994, 1995 and 1996 seasons. The club lost their 1st and 2nd round draft picks at the 1999 National AFL Draft, was unable to participate in the pre-season and rookie drafts that year and fined $276,274

Interesting how they were found guilty in '92 and '94, but not their Premiership year in '93. Anybody else think they juggled the books so they can't be accused of cheating in '93 so as to avoid the possibility of the Cup being taken off them ?

Heard Patrick talking last week on SEN about Ablett's induction to the H.O.F. and basically said that it was time to get over the reasons for not inducting Ablett into the H.O.F and that it was time to move on.

What a hyprocrite, he should take his own advice in respect to Carlton's past salary cap indescretions.

I'm a reasonably rational person - but it's not Del-amitri spew who gets my back up but one R Evans. Is this rational? How come he gets out of the Essendon* salary cap rorts squeaky clean, and then gets to play high and mighty about our serial offending? Why do I have to buy pies off him? Why does J Hird's ex "job" working for his son never get an airing? Why am I so paranoid (I think there is a book in the making somewhere there...)

What's with this guy? He seems to bring this topic up all the time. It's his monthly rant about Carlton's cheating. He is seriously starting to sound like a broken record.

I've just got one point to make. That one point is what stopped those f#$%ers from winning the flag in 99'. Don't see Sheedy in the media much.

It's the easiest form of journalism to take cheap shots. When was the last time he wrote anything constructive? What was the last story he broke?
He just sits back and goes for the easy target and follows his own agendas.
He is a talented writer and can certainly turn a phrase but he just uses it in a lazy, sarcastic manner. Uses it to pleasure himself. Form of masturbation perhaps. (Don't wanna dwell too much on that one.)
The guy just doesn't compare to Baum, Caro and Sheahan. At least they set agendas and have a go.
The man needs to get a life and have a little think (there's a thing) about what journalism is supposed to be about.
Flogger.

Well I become busy at work and miss out on all the action. I just heard his comments on SEN. (Whats new) and who is the idiot that said we cheated to win the 1996 flag? Did i miss something? cause if i have we now have 17 and outright leaders.

Yet to read the article, not sure if its worthwhile after reading some of these posts.

in a perfect world, flower would take the advice he directed at the club to "get over it and concentrate on the football" and apply it to himself and stop taking any opportunity to bring up the salary cap issue .....

but then what else would he write about? this issue is his one and only foothold in the cliff face of footy cred for this wanker. do you seriously think he will give it up?

it's the ONLY issue he has that makes him heard over the shrill of all the other wankers and shit-talkers in the media! do you seriously believe his lack of self-esteem and cred in the footy world would let him give it up?

every time he drones on about this shit, he has the ear of the saint and bulldog supporters (to name just 2) who absolutely despise us cos of buffoon jack's comments.

flower's taunts directed towards our club are manna to their ears!!

if only someone like bartlett would say "patrick is not the messiah, he's just a very naughty boy!!"

C'mon guys, get over Patrick Smith - not the other way around.

He picks easy targets (teams near the bottom) as he can't write anything clever, useful or positive. He's a shit stirrer, the school bully, because he can't write anything elegant or considered.

He writes for a crap newspaper and barracks for a shit team.

Just don't read his stuff - its not worth the effort.

truth .... it's so easy to be selective with "the truth" especially when no-one holds you accountable!!

which "truth" is he focussing on? which "truth" does he gloss over?

his "truth" is that gutless, mean spirited form of "truth" ... you know the one where someone that doesnt like you tells you you're shite ... but hey they're only being "honest" .... but what's the real agenda for their "honesty"??

And even Patrick points out the anomoly of us losing a PP one year yet getting one the next. That was the only pertinent point this buffoon made.

Actually this was not an anomaly. The penalties were handed out in 2002. At that time it was not known if we would have a priority pick in 2003. I suspect even FatPrick would find it difficult justifying why a penalty could take 5 picks OR 6 picks, but we don't know yet how many we'll take until we see how you finish next year.

No this is not the case, the penalties were handed down the week prior to the 2002 draft which included that draft. The AFL DID know that we were last and in need of rebuilding, but denied a priority pick until 2003. We did trade our 15th(?) pick to Port for Barny. That deal was done during trade week prior to the penalties.

You are just confirming what I already said. :?
