Simply because after the 1st 2 rounds the team set the bar up at a reasonable height through shear hard work and intensity. Tonight that bar slipped well down. As Ratts said at his press conference (see AFL website) perhaps the large amount of good press got into the heads of the players. We haven't had that sort of press in 10 years.

In previous years we neither had the cattle nor the game plan to lift the bar. We no longer have to except the 'tripe' because there are players in the wings to come in. Previously there wasn't.

Tonight we were lazy and expected everyone else to do the work. The 'ammo' is the simple before and after video i.e. last weeks workrate vs this week workrate.

Our young rucks played with a lot of heart, Jacobs kept competing and Kruezer copped a few bad knocks and kept trying.
Judd is unstoppable.
Wiggins never gave up.
We have a chance to redeem ourselves this year.
Hype is now over. The team has to work hard now to prove themselves a worthy top eight team.
I didn’t have to wait 1 hour for the train, like last week.

CONS
Letting an inferior team get the better of us, we were on top and let them back into the match with a drop in intensity. Losing these kind of games massively hurt our finals aspirations.
Kicking for goal cost us big time, Fev would be hurting right now, but he was not alone tonight in poor conversion.
Lack of pressure over the ground, we stopped the hard tackling that served us so well in the first two rounds.
We were reminded of the inconsistency of a youthful side.

I've been in denial all this time but can safely admit this...... Our back line is shit. To have two 30 year olds run us around is gut wrenching

Knights rolled the dice by leaving a dud on Fevola all night. Swap Fev's 4.7 to 7.4 and Knights would have been rightly branded a fool.

Their game plan is simple, load up with pace, play on at all costs, kick it down the corridor and wear us down...some of their players like Lovett are physically quicker which aids that plan. We tried to take second options instead of taking the first and got wrapped up by players like Davey running us down ...dumb footy as you suggested.
Ratten hasnt got the game plan right vs the Bombers as yet......we have more talent just need to use it better.
Essendon* are carp IMHO and we should be belting them...not be shown up by no name kids and a no name coach.

My point is we were beaten by a team that played like as a team. Juddy was the difference and our second tier players looked 4th rate compared to the Bombers

Tonight there pace and there second tier players got them over the line.

We need to create run off half back and until we do we will not make top four. We have no one who car runt the lines of half back

Tonight we looked like the 2008 version of the Carlton. Static, not running hard enough, not linking up and got ahead of our selves

What also stood out was our second tier players looked average where as the Bombers played like a team even with a 'fab 22'

Pros: I resisted the urge to smash my phone when I was flooded with shit from scum supporters
