Why isn't Jarrad Waite played in the midfield?

I think ultimately it would be his most effective position. I'm of the mind Pagan must think his bodywork, stamina and disposal isn't up to it, or Waite could be injury prone if thrown into the heat of the battle.

Do people think he could overcome these defeciencies?

His speed and running flair would definitely help us out, we need midfielders who can run the lines. I think it may be time for Jarrad to be schooled where he would be most effective in the future, his progress has plateued in the forward and backlines.

Is it time to set the bar higher :?:

have you been watching the same waite i have?

his progress has been sensational IMO, didn't see last weeks game or saints game but he's been one of our best players almost everyweek in most of the others.

i reckon he will make top 5 in the B&F this year

think that he is to important to our forward line and its structure and he is a terrific mark and shot for goal would be silly to move a key forward out of the forward line.

I agree with Vintage, I'd like to see him spend more time in the midfield.

Why the hell did Walker only get 40 min on the ground ????

He was voted as the player "Fan Cam" at the G which meant a camera stays on him and he was on the bloody bench most of the time!..

Have I missed soemthing?

It's amazing how we all differ on players. My analysis of Waite is that whilst he has made some progress this year, he simply has not got the footy smarts just yet. Why? He doesn't run to the right areas, his tackling is technically not correct, his disposal is shonky and skills can be more polished.

Not dumping on Waite he has plenty of upside (may even develop into a key position player) but he is nowhere near the saviour that many think he is.

I like Waite and believe he is a matchwinner in the making.

However, I also think he lacks the polish and the skill level to be playing midfield. He also lacks ball-winning ability. He seems better suited to a running-marking half-forward game, a bit like Chris Tarrant.

His major faults in close are that he tends to fumble the ball a bit and slip over a lot.

The scary thing is I don't reckon he's finished developing yet and when he does he is going to be a real big unit. He needs to hit the weights hard this summer and build up his arms and chest and add some strength for those crucial marking contests in forward 50.

His kciking for goal has improved markedly over the course of this year and that is a VERY good thing.

I think he is not a midfielder. Would like to see him spend some time down back for the rest of the season. Play him on some smart forwards, let them teach him.

Waite needs to be played at chf as i doubt whitnall will be at the club next season, so we need waite to step up and play chf.

Best players play forward.
Freo have improved immensely since McPharlin and Pavlich have become permamnant forwards.
Let the guy develop as a supreme CHF. Leave defense to defenders and midfield to midfielders

CHF next year. Then a run at FF with Fev moving out to CHF to freshen up occasingly.
Setanta and Bryan used in the forward pocket to take a grab.
Fisher on the flank. Betts in the forward pocket.
Need a midfielder on the other flank.

The guy has played 45 games and people wonder why he's not as good as Carey yet

Not convinced our man is a CHF and if he is then play him down back now to learn - this year is shot anyways, or is that a success?

I'd like to see him have a run on ball if he's not in the game up forward, if for no other reason than he's aggressive and might physically hurt the opposition.

Would also like to see him spend some time at CHB as an on going education for a forward. T-Bird's absence is a perfect time.

Having said that I'd also be happy to see him stay forward this season and consolidate what he's already done and learnt this season.

Be happy whichever way Denis goes.

I agree with Rod - Waite does not have the smarts to play in a KP.

One other thing which he needs to work on is his aggression - he gives away far too many free kicks due to sloppy tackles. This year he has received 9 frees for and 20 against.

His agression in our current team is something to be appreciated...even given the silly free kicks.

I've always thought of Jarrad as more clumsy than violent - his arms just go everywhere sometimes, he's just a bit reckless I reckon. I think the reason he gives away free kicks is that he is a tad overzealous in his tackling and attempts to get to the ball at times, which is something that needs to be remedied.

I would continue to play him up forward.

i reckon waite could play KP once he fills out a bit more.

he kicked 5 as our main target up forward when fev was out and set up our last win.
