but everything they do right will be someone else's work and everything they do wrong will be their own fault - we know the script, this is all Mills and Boonish, no need to wait, it all turns out swell in the end - doesn't it??????
Very nice DB.
Synbad. When a business is running a multi million dollar debt, has a Legends Stand that nobody sits in, a ground that nobody comes to watch footy at, a football team that has lost 83% of its matches in the past four seasons, a former President trashing our brand, the media delighting in our plight, we need a sense of stability.
Its an old and overused cliche, and Im not a fan of cliches but this one readily applies. 'You have got to go back to go forward.' What Smorgon has done is ensure the debt remains as minimal as possible, played a MAJOR part in negotiating the AFL's lease with Princess Park (and I know first hand the amount of work he has put into these negotiations), given Pagan and the Match Committee full authority to continue blooding the younger players, and has played as big a part as any in "turning around the ship" before we can begin to do all the wonderful things you talk about again (eg: increased promotion, merchandising... etc)
All Im saying is give this guy a chance. Expect significant attempts to reunify the club that has fractured significantly over the years, expect closer liason and communication with supporters (even via this website and others), expect strong and disciplined leadership but with a notable 'spreading of the load' amongst deputies as well.
For those of you complaining about Graham turning down a breakfast slot on SEN-All 16 of you who listen to that station in Melbourne would hopefully understand that its not the best exposure possible. He spoke on 3AW in Prime Time to a much larger audience, has had significant coverage in The Age and will have some more detailed interviews over the weekend in both the Age and the HUN.
He has been in office for 2 days- we finally have a board absolutely determined to make Carlton a force both on and off the field again. We have outsiders wanting a spot on the board and a President determine to 'listen' to others.
Let us just wait and see what happens..
