Judging by our results, where pretty flower shithouse. No doubt about it. But where tanking, and i bloody lvoe it. Sure, i want to see the mighty Baggers win and keep our proud heritage intact but there's no way our heritage will dissapear. We will always be the same proud, cocky baggers. We've got a couple soft blokes like Houla, Campo who give us a bad name but we know in a couple years that they will be gone (i'm over Houla, trade him, don't care if he can kick the footy, hasn't shown us that this year) and when there gone we will have blokes like Waite, Walker, Fev, Thornton and Simmo who will be running around for us. All of which are proud to wear the jumper and will give 100%.

But yeah, i never really go to the point about why i love the fact where tanking. It's because where doing it in a good way. Where playing our shit and working out which shit where gonna keep on our list in '06. Anything wrong with that? No way. We need to know if who's gonna go and who will help take us to the future.

Pagans told the young blokes to not worry about senior selection this year, he's told them to bulk up and keep improving on your game until '06 when there well and truly ready for AFL footy.

I'm happy with that. We know there gonna be on the list next year and we know that all the blokes we drafted have potential and we've just gotta nurture that potential. They will more then likley get a game before the end of the year anyway.

So, yeah, don't buy into this bullshit about us having the worst list and taking atleast 3-5 years to be back in finals contention.

We've got Fev, a first class forward, Stevens a first class midfielder and Thornton a first class backmen. Then we've got Carrazzo, a developing first class defender, Walker a developing first class midfielder and Waite a developing first class forward.

There's a good bunch of blokes to build a team around. We will have Fisher, Russell, Setanta, who all have a lot of potential in our team next year.

Simmo will have another preseason under him.

Whitnall if he's still around will be helped by the continuing development of those guys mentioned above and we will have the new 05 recruits injecting some life and excitment into the place.

I'm not to depressed yet. It's all cool from where i'm sitting.

I don't think we're that bad either.

What concerns me is why we're playing this badly...can't work it out and thats whats depressing me

I don't think we are tanking. It's just our list is just no damn good. If we were tanking we would be giveing Russell, S.O'hAilpin, Blackwell, etc 100 mins of game time in the seniors.
The players in the seniors are all playing for their career. You can't tell me guys like Johnosn, Bowyer, Clarke, Walker, Simpson, Betts, etc would play bad purposely.
Maybe Denis is tanking by playing weird matchups and not changing his game plan but who knows?
I hope we are tanking cos if we're not then...

You've missed the point.

Like i said in my original post- "But yeah, i never really go to the point about why i love the fact where tanking. It's because where doing it in a good way. Where playing our shit and working out which shit where gonna keep on our list in '06. Anything wrong with that? No way. We need to know who's gonna help take us to the future." That's why where not playing our young blokes. Where seeing which shit (Bowyer, Clarke etc.) we will persist with and who where gonna get rid of.

I'd say Pagan will know this by about round 16 and that's when we will start seeing blokes like Russell in the seniors.

And regarding the "our list is no good" statement. What i was trying to say in my original post is that it actually isn't as bad as it seems, it's just that where playing blokes who's careers are on the line, not the young blokes.

People are saying Collingwood have a good list. But there playing all there young blokes, there not playing people like Lokan who's career is hanging in the balance. What if Hartlett was our Travis Cloke? We don't know, because he's not in the seniors. What if Russell was our Chris Egan? Well we don't know because where not playing them.

I can gurantee you that Russell will be as good as Egan, but we haven't seen him yet which is why we shouldn't buy into the 'we have the worst list in the league' argument. Noone knows because where not playing our young blokes.

BUT... that's a good thing  Now we won't die wondering if Bowyer or Davies could've made it and if they would've been our missing link.

Tend to agree somewhat. How many other clubs are yet to play their 1st, 2nd AND 3rd round draft selections? Ok, Hartlett's been injured, but I'm more than happy to let Russell & Blackwell put on some more muscle before they make their senior debuts, even if it's next year.

Great Point i said the same thing but maybe better to clarify maybe iwhen i said we have the worst list prob more the players we are putting on the park.. We do have the worst list with the players we put on the park.

These players second chancers (Big Danny refers to as our shit players) are playing on the list to determine which of them will be the best ones to keep ... they prob arnt all shit but a lot of them are..

I would say that only one of Bryan or Preder will be on the list in 2006 and believe this to be Bryan

Prob one of Bentick / Jono / Davies will be kept

One of Magrath / Banister will be on the list

Maybe one of Wiggins / Sporn / Bowyer ect

So by the dend of the year a lot of crap will be removed and the possible better ones will remain with a better list around them

2006 is not looking that bad the kids in the Bullants will be better prepared for AFL in 2006 and also will have played in a wining side :)

BDG,

Maybe because it is the only sliver of a hope that I have left, but I have been thinking your same thoughts for a long time. We are bottom of the ladder with supposedly the worst list in the comp yet we arent playing the kids......why is that. It is probably not by chance, more likely by design.

I reckon the MC have worked out that this current mob needs to 'hold the fort' until the next team (which is currently playing for the Bullandts) is ready to go, with a few exceptions of course.

For those of you that also follow the EPL, I remember maybe 10 or so years ago, MUtd won the league and in the off season sold most of their stars for big $$$ (Paul Ince to Inter etc, Mark Hughes to Blackburn etc) and replaced them with a team of kids that they had been grooming in the reserves. At the time thy thought Alex Ferguson was mad replacing established superstars with kids called; Beckham, Scholes, Butt, Neville, Gillespie etc. Time, a couple of EPL Titles, FA Cups and a Champions League win has proven him right.

Didnt Dennis at NM have the core of a team whilst he was their U19 coach including players like Archer, Stevens, Carey, Martin etc that the brought up to the seniors when he became senior coach??? I only hope that he is currently doing the same thing with the Bullants.

Colllo has stated what he think of our list in terms of A-Z talent and the coach says we wont be any good until we get some high quality youth via some early draft picks...I reckon that spells it out very clearly how good we are....
