Diggins denied this, claiming she requested to see a full copy of the Watts report, which was critical of some board and management practices. The board was not given the full Watts review; instead, Malouf reported highlights to the directors.
If this is true, it's unbelievable. The report is on Malouf and the management of the Club, and Malouf reports highlights to the Board, who don't see the whole thing?
And that following a member of the football department conducting a review of the football department.
What is going on down there???
I am not buying in to arguments about individual board members who I do not know.
However I just have to comment on the reporting arrangements to the board. If the newspaper account is correct then CFC have some serious governance issues that need to be addressed.
I am a member of a board. If the organisation that I belong to commissioned a report into a branch of the organisation and then allowed the director of that branch to filter and report the findings to the full board then I would be demanding to see the full report. (anyone feel free to insert comment here about inmates running the asylum...)
If as a director I have some serious misgivings about the performance of a functional area of the organisation, I would urge the board to seek independent advice and if they ignored it I would then seek advice from a person with credentials in the functional area concerned. I would feel that I could not serve the interests of the members of the organisation if I felt that sufficient due diligence was not undertaken and the board was not fully informed. If the board is trying to lynch one member for doing this then it should be questioned.
Unless there is more to the situation than what has been reported then I worry about the whole governance issue.
