The difference between you and i is that i don't delight in the position of the Club. You have adopted the role of a knocker for years. You who introduced the distasteful "give them the axe award" that even your apologists were embarrassed about. If you are going to be an expert on all things Carlton at least watch the ocassional game before putting the boot in!
By the way you have never indicated just how you would replace the 10-15 players that you have advocated the removal of each year?
Oh I see ... (he says with his best Basil Fawlty voice), I enjoy seeing the club that I have followed for 40 years wallowing down the bottom of the ladder ?? Rrrrrrightio then ...................
And 'The Axe' award ?? Right, bagging players in a wooden spoon winning year is only restricted to CSC is it ?? That would never have happened on here or TBV would it ?? I guess that I only ever read the term 'hack' or 'dud' on other forums ?? Mate, you've lost it !!!!!!
Replacing players ?
Hey, here's a novel thought, try using the draft, you know, that thing they have every year, actually they have three of them. Might even be damn useful to keep the picks we are given instead of trading them away for shyte.
And here's something I'll throw in for nothing, maybe, just maybe, we could get really good at our negotiating skills and do some very shrewd trade deals that actually net us some quality players instead of rejects who are either not up to it or better still, well past their prime.
You seem to think that you can't have a massive cull on the playing list and replace them all in the one season. Why not ?? Who says that it can't be done ?? Just because no-one else has tried it doesn't mean that you cannot achieve the feat.
If you have an extremely extensive recruiting network across the country, anything is possible. Just think about Karl Norman, there must be another 20 guys just like him running around in some backyard bush league. but have we got the network & system in place to indentify them ?? I'm not a huge fan of Norman's but the fact that he was snaffled out of the blue and has shown that he can play at that level would suggest that some more exacting science in the recruiting area might just be a good way of pulling in a solid smokey or two every year.
Oh well, stay with that conventional approach Dom, we might just take a little longer to improve by not trying something different.
