Everyone is quick to put the boots in to Goddard.
Some of you posters need to open your eyes alittle. AFL is not about peaks and troughs in performance it's about getting on the park week in week out and being consistant week in week out. He may not be Judd or Wells but he would walk into any AFL team any weekend.
Since being drafted he has basically played in the AFL since Round 1, 2003 and out of 61 odd home and away games I bet he has played near on 55 games.
This year he is averaging close to 16 possessions a game from the HBF with a high of 26 and low of 11. He rarely wastes a disposal and can kick 50 of one step to a running player. He has his faults but there aren't many. He is 4th for StKilda in possessions, only behind onballers Hayes, Delsanto and Ball and he is 6th in tackles. If CFC had a 20 year old HBF with those figures, that we could pencil in every week, we would be over the moon.

fair point you make Cazzesman
and i wasnt bagging Goddard as such, as i reckon he is a handy player indeed. But he isnt and i dont think we will become a super star of the game.
But the unrealistic expectations on the kid we get with our first pick if it is no.1. is fraught with danger IMO. Unless he is an absolute gun he is going to be considered a failure in some posters eyes.
Would i be dissappointed if we had Goddard? Not at all, would be rapted. Still think Wells is better though, but i wouldnt be comparing him and his imput to our team like some people do thinking that our No.1. if we get him is going to have to be as good as Nick Reiwoldt for him to be a success and that is what some here have already built our No.1. pick up to be.
