It is sad when Carlton supporters ridicule other Carlton supporters because they just want to barrack.

Explain the logic, sure.

But to openly ridicule is pretty sad.

I will be glad when 2005 is consigned to the history bin.

I hope you're also going to think it's sad to ridicule Carlton supporters for wanting the PP, it goes both ways.

And I think we'll all be happy when it is

NOOOOOOO!!!!!!

But come ye back when summer's in the meadow
Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow
'Tis I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow
Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so.

Always love your work DB.

Just on the dreaded tanking and blind faith in players in the draft securing our future: the last time we invested hope in a player he ended up with a couple of bad knee injuries, cost us a few million over five years and is roundly criticised for being too slow and undefensive nowadays.

I think I'll put my energies into supporting the team and the game plan - not any indiviual player

dont worry DB

this whole debate is bullshit.

Wanting to lose is a flower disgrace.

i dont care what anyone says - there is no valor, no honour, no reward for finishing last.

Wanting to lose is the biggest joke ive ever heard.

Those who want to lose need to look at themselves and ask them what they really want and what they associate themselves with. If you are running a marathon and you cant win - do you stop? and get the bus back?

The PP is a reward for failure. Dont you people understand that. Let me say it again - it is a reward for failure.

I dont want it, most sensible people dont want it, its only those that think that a PP is going to be the reason we turn it all around.

You know what - i hope we beat Collignwood, I hope we beat Essendon* and I hope we beat north.

I dont ever want another wooden spoon again.

Culture doesnt come from winning a wooden spoon.
Success doesnt come from losing games to get a PP.
Champions dont come from a Priortiy Pick.

Winning = Culture = Success = Champions

Its a disgrace for any supporter from any club to want to lose.

The sooner we beat Essendon* & Collingwood the better. Then it will give some of you that wouldnt have an ounce of honour amongst you 6 months to pine over what maybe.

Getting a PP is not the formula for winning.

Winning is the formula, from winning come success. Look at Fisher, how highly do we rate him since he has come back. He wasnt 1st in the Draft, he wasnt even in the 2nd round, nor 3rd, but we got him like Kade Simpson in the 4th round.

Give me Brad Fisher over a PP anyday.

PP is not, and will not be the reason why the club turns it around.

The players that we have will be the reason for the reversal in fortune.

Two words for you Danny:

Talking stuff.

It's been a haven, providing a tenuous link to sanity for many of us.

I play my last game for the season this weekend and normally after the AGM at the club we would head back to the pub and get smashed with my mates.

Instead tonight Im going to pick up a carton of crownies and carefully place them in the fridge so their nice and cold for Sat nite.

After the game I will attend the AGM then leave with my fiance and her daughter and take the 40 min trip home, arriving at 7pm with some luck.

Caitlin will collect her "kick ball" put on my over sized jumper cap and gather a flag or two.

We will then all sit down on my navy blue lounge infront of the TV and cheer the Blues to a majestic thrashing of the Pies.

I know the coverted number one pick is on the line and my head says we need the picks but my heart will rule.

Logic tells me one thing but I will never be able to support our side without wanting a win, especially against Collingwood.

Sorry if this upset the majority of you but I cant help but I feel a win will do more for our kids than a honourable loss.

Danny's going on a sabatical, but it's not a major disaster.

As he pointed out, he's a heart rules head kinda guy, and more power to him because the key to happiness is understanding who you are.

He'll be back when all this crap blows over, because this site's all about words... and words are what Danny's all about.

Anyway, The Prez's statement sums up the whole debate perfectly:

You've got Those Who Are Ruled By Their Heart
"I'd take Brad Fisher over a Priority Pick anyday"

And those Those Who Are Ruled By Their Head
"I'd take Nick Riewoldt or Luke Ball over Brad Fisher anyday"

Both are right, and in a grown-up discussion, we'd recognise the truth inherent in this. But, of course, it's turned into a black/white right/wrong slanging match.

All because some people choose to go with their heart, and some people choose to go with their head. Accusations of 'you're a disgrace, you're not a true supporter, blah blah' really irk me because they're (a) foolish and emotionally immature and (b) they harm the site, because the site is about nothing other than content.

We all know now where we all stand. And I'll best most, if not all of us, agree quite a lot more with the 'other camp' than their written arguments give them credit for.

I understand why danny left, because this whole discussion has become boorish, tiresome and lacking in any humanity, good humour and comradeship. It's just bickering.

But don't worry about danny... he'll be back.

As usual John nailed it. Sometimes I wish we just recognised that what unites us is more powerful than that which divides us.

JohnM a friend of mine recently returned from rehab. He decided to get his life back on track. Like many of us things are very easy to view in black and white - hot or cold. The most important thing he learnt was that there is also grey. The in between where your neither up nor down. I believe that this is our common ground as Carlton supporters. Whether our views are left or right, black or white we all share the grey area or should I say Blue area as supporters of Carlton. I hope everyone who is able to on Saturday night gets out to the game to support our boys win lose or draw.

Thanks John, a calm voice of reason as usual.

And extremely disappointing after my plea the other day for everyone to cease posting in this manner. Even in this very thread, people have resorted to petty name calling and swearing.

It doesn't matter which side of the debate you are on.

Don't say that.

If it's for the reason I think it is, then trust me when I say I understand. It's happening to me too. (obviously not here, but over on the darkside forums).

Everyone has a right to their opinion. I understand them all, but I don't agree. So what? It'd be pretty boring if we all agreed on everything. Right now we have a fairly volatile issue up for discussion where opinions (and tempers) run pretty high. Can you believe on one site I go too they are encouraging us to sing "We are the navy blues"???? WTF? No way. No chance. Not ever.

But.... that's how things are right now.

Ride it out db. Allow people to have their grand delusions of PP's and the instant magic that will bring. We know better. Pity them, don't desert them. They'll need us later to pick them up and bring them back into the real world of supporting their team no matter what. And they'll apologise, and they'll thank us.

Stcik with your club, stick with your board db. Otherwise, it makes you no better than them.

Thanks for showing us the way mandy :-D

Pay no attention to those telling you to go away or comparing you to Joffa.

You make a far greater contribution here than they could ever hope to achieve.

and that folks, in a nutshell is my take on the situation summed up in a couple of words.

However that doesn't mean I have the right to openly ridicule anyone else here on TC for daring to have a different opinion than me, both my head and my heart are in agreeance (sic?) on that.

I visit here everyday because of the varied inputs and opinions of everyone... I don't like to think anyone is driven from this site by bickering.

Well said Brad.

What is a Rodent? A rat. Nice username dick.

DB is speaking for many of us in this, it's just depressing reading thread after thread about why we should tank, as the others have said Talking Stuff is the new main board.

And I am dying for this season to end so we can all get back on the same page.

Oh and leave Mandy alone you leeches, shes one of the best contributers around here, you mess with her and you mess with me!

and my mates!
