He had around 34 disposals today. That is awesome.

I reckon his main competition for the NRS this week will be our own Eddie Betts!!

But I think AB deserves it.

Eddie can have next week after a 5 goal game against the Scummers

AB is special, he has a real in and under talent, great in traffic. He continually manages to get a handball off in situations where with most players, it would end in a ball up. Simmo might be prettier to watch but someone has to get the ball out ... well done AB.

Pace/Skills? Developing. Give him time. Like Carrazz, he´ll work on it and get better.

I agree that he is not overly quick, but please tell me where over the past 2 games, his skills have been poor amongst his 38 possessions. He never double grabs, his handballs hit the targets and his foot skills have been very good.

By all means put forward points about why you don't think he will make it, but please don't make stuff up to simply beef up your argument.

Regards Cazzesman

Very biased comments Cazzesman. We all know you had a lot to do with his selection to the list.

By the way stats mean jack, if the disposals aren't effective.

He's past 2 games have been good and have acknowledged that, BUT most posters fail to recognise the opportunities AB has had this year and his ordinary performances in those other games, including poor disposals in those games.

And believe me, I keep a close eye on our young and developing players, and I think he's SLOW and SKILLS ARE AVERAGE (my opinion) - AND THAT IS WHAT MAY BRING ABOUT HIS UNDOING, not saying this will happen, but AB is not on the safe list either - JURY IS OUT.

Tell me Cazzesman, you're not hanging your hat on 2 performances?

No need to get protective over 'your boy'. :P

Cheers Wangers. No idea and rude at the same time.

Hey mikey_m, I have an opinion and I'll state it. I do have an idea, and I'm not rude so get bent.

On to Bentick. He had a great game and I watched him closely, and good on him for it. Most of his disposal were effecctive and he was responsible getting most of the ball out of packs. Hopefully it gives him the impetus for bigger things to come against better quality opposition.

BUT, remember the opposition was trash last night. They had injuries and were clearly not wanting to win and I reckon the under 12's could have knocked them off.

Bentick will never be a racehorse, but of course we of all clubs don't have to think to hard why thats not necessarily a problem.

His work in close last night and strength over the ball as fantastic. I thought his disposal by foot lacked the same polish, but thats a relative thing. Seemed a Jason Johnson type role, and if he can do that for a decade he will be more than handy.

It's easy to jump on to someone when they stick their neck out and state their opinion which goes against the general consensus.

I disagree with Wangers overall assessment of Bentick but agree in part that AB lacks pace. But is their a need for posters to get narky and personal?

Fantastic game last night AB. Keep believing in yourself and continue do the hard work and you should prevail. Good to see a St Bernards boy who supported the Blues all his life come through.

Humble pie hurts wangers!!!

just kidding - look, u r aloud to have your views on players and analyse them how u wish - i think u got it wrong with bentick about his skills, as u failed to look at his technique and take into account his age. But the more u watch kids who come from thru the system and if u see them at the bullants u can distinguish bw the ones that make it and the ones that dont.

But anyway, u should be happy that carlton now has an extra option in the midfield - its not always u get such a benefit when u r wrong!!

Bozman, it's not a case of eating humble pie, but thanks for the sensible post acknowledging that it's just my views, unlike mikey_m and lucablue.

I just stated that I thought his pace was suspect, and reality is, it's the truth. His skills I did question as being average, and yes, his disposals last night were 80 to 90% effective and this is what we'd expect from AB, week in week out. He needs to do it consistently now, and I hope he does.

You can only play as good as the opposition that's put in front of you and AB took advantage of that, and why wouldn't you? We as supporters and the club will benefit from it, but more so AB.

I never said I didn't like the kid, all I said that he was skating on thin ice relating to his immediate future, due to his deficiencies (that I perceived) and got howled down (funny those who wanted to make a point of it only after Sat nights game by some). He's still young and has a lot to learn.

Onwards and upwards for AB. I've moved on, but some on this forum carry on like feral supporters, and don't like being challenged when someone presents their views about a player, rather wait to pounce and be rude when they see fit.

I barrack for Carlton, too!!! Some people don't realise we're on the same side here!!!!

It's posts like this that still convince me that you have no idea! Your assertion that he was skating on thin-ice despite recently turning 20 whilst possessing the rare commodity of getting the hard-ball in combination with displaying good skills shreaks of ignorance. Especially given he plays at a club sitting on the bottom of the ladder with the worst list in the competion.

The above post is not an acceptance that you were wrong but more along the lines of - "its's about time he started showing something!"
More like you've only just realised he has talent. Most of us here knew it last year when he was promoted from the rookie list & showed huge promise in his 5 consecutive AFL games. We understand that these young kids will be inconsistent in their first few years but are prepared to cut some slack for those that display above average skills & can get the ball.

Apologies for the rude word Wangers - won't do it again. Just got a little emotional when our ice-skater stuck it up you!!!!!

Look some of us probably felt Bentick was skating on thin ice if we were going to delist 20 players this year.
Weve already tried that.
Bentick is only 19/20 and even though i dont think he can do what he just did every week.. it was a mighty effort and a massive shot in the arm for Adam and the club.

Of course his pace is supsect. He does win the contested ball and tackle and his disposal is pretty reasonable. 3 good games does not make him a champion but 'skating on thin ice' to mean sounds like implying he is likely to be delisted. Yesterday aside he had done enough in 2 games in the midfield previously to justify a spot on the list next year.
That is what I was trying to say. The game against the Pies just highlights the point.
